To Whom It May Concern:Please be advised that the notes in our system concerning this matter state that the member did, in fact, contact the general manager, Anthony, by telephoneAnthony advised the member that a certified letter was required if the member could not come to the club in person to
cancel the membership. However, to date, we do not have any record of having received a certified letter or any other written request from the member to cancel the membershipPlease request that the member provide a copy of the green certified turn request form that would have been returned to her confirming that we received her letter of cancellation. We are happy to provide a refund of any membership dues that were billed once we have received proof of receiving a cancellation letter In the meantime, we will be sure that her membership is canceled as of today However, she has already been billed for the March membership dues. Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
They are of course pleased with the response because they profited from my misfortune, this does not resolve the matter that for 3 months I was deceived into paying for a service that I was not able to use. They allow you to enter into a contract without going into their gym but you cannot cancel? I made it very clear to Anthony the manager on the phone that due to my work schedule I couldn't get to the post office to mail this letter out, also I lived 2 hours away. Why do I have to jump through hoops to stop paying them when it takes such little effort for them to charge me indefinitely. This is poor business practice and I'm extremely disappointed and upset that they weren't willing to work with me.

From: <[redacted]> font-family: arial, sans-serif;">Date: Tue, Apr 21, 2015 at 12:58 PMSubject: Revdex.com Complaint ID: [redacted]To: [redacted]On April 8th I received a phone call from the complainant saying she cancelled her account back in January. I asked her how she cancelled, and she stated she "called and cancelled".  I informed her, that we do not accept any cancellations over the phone for anyone, and it clearly states in her contract, that we require 30 days notice in writing. She admitted that she left for California without cancelling her membership. Several of her monthly payments came back declined, because she instructed her CC company to charge back her payments, without actually closing her membership. I advised her of her balance, and did what I could do to help her close the account out. After 30 minutes of her screaming and threatening me, I still waived some fees for her and she paid the balance of $44.98. I cancelled her account out immediately.Michael K[redacted]General ManagerSpunk Fitness Silver Spring###-###-####

Review: False advertisement on personal training session. It was just a way to lure me in to pay for additional services. Per onsite personal trainer manager, the equipment at the gym are not effective. Which is just why I need my membership cancelled. I have utilized the services once, and wasted an hour on a bogus "session". I sent an email to the manager, it was followed up with a call. I missed the call but nonetheless called back and almost a month later. No call or email back. But charges are still hitting my account. I simply do not want to deal with a company that is not honest in the beginning stages. I could have went somewhere else and got the services that are truly offered with NO CATCH.Desired Settlement: 49.98 as of 04/01/2013

Review: I am a member of spunk fitness and on a month-month membership plan. Since the August of 2012 I have made repeated In-person request (4 separate occasions), as instructed by their staff members as a way to cancel the membership. Each time I was told that my membership has been cancelled and that I will receive one last statement, and after that I will no longer receive charges/access to the gym. I will then receive automatic withdraw from my account after the "last bill". I addition to the in-person cancellation attempts, I have called on a near monthly and sometimes daily basis to follow-up and inquire about the continual billing. Each time I have called the manager is "unavailable" and the front desk associate will make comments such as " i'm going to take care of it", " you need to come in to cancel", " Don't worry,I'll hook you up". Because I am getting the run around, I have contacted my credit card company to dispute the charges and requested that they no longer accept billing from this company. I have also contacted their billing services ([redacted]) to inform them of the situation. They told me that all they can do is flag the account, but SPunk fitness is still responsible for cancelling the membership and I will still receive bills until they do.I once again, prior to this complained called Spunk fitness to speak to the manager and once again he was unavailable. that is the third time this week. When I asked why he wasn't available, I was told he never works on weekends, then I referenced the other two calls during normal business hours. The associate replied that the manager had an injury back in October 2013 and doesn't work much.Desired Settlement: Cancellation of my month-month (no contract) health/gym membership; refund on over due bills that have accumilated since my credit card company no longer accepts charges from this vendor
