Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Just because something is legal does not make it ethical If you truly care about your customers, you would extend your published cash price in a case like thisI feel bullied and tricked by an organization that I want to trust to do the right thing I moved here from Singapore, where there is one price for procedures, and that price is very reasonableI am now getting a very expensive education in just how convoluted the US health care system is

StCharles offers two options for payment for care received in the Immediate Care Clinic First, as you noted, patients who
wish to take advantage of the discounted rates may do so by paying in full at the time that services are rendered Any patient, regardless of insurance coverage, may take advantage of these discounted rates by paying in full at the time of his or her visit This information is clearly posted, in red, at the top of the website page which you referenced in your complaint. The second option is that patients can elect for StCharles to send a bill later, at the standard rates This bill may go to an insurance company, or to the patient directly, or, as in your case, to a co-sharing group, but will in each case reflect higher rates than those posted on our website
When you visited our Immediate Care Clinic, you asked us to send a bill after your visit, because you did not wish to pay the discounted rate in full at the time of your visit. Therefore, we processed your bill at the higher, standard rates That you are part of a Christian co-sharing group, or any co-sharing group, is not relevant, and was not taken into account in processing your bill. Patients who opt not to pay in full at the time of their visit are all billed according to the same practices and the same rates, whether they carry insurance, do not carry insurance, or are associated with a co-sharing group of any type We understand that *** is not the same as an insurance plan, but this distinction does not create an opportunity for a discount Please know that if you need to visit our Immediate Care Clinic again in the future, you would be welcome to take advantage of our then-current discounted rates by paying in full at that visit
I do apologize that this situation has been a source of frustration for you. It is always our goal at StCharles to provide excellent care, and I am sorry that you feel you have not received that If you would like to discuss payment arrangements for which you may qualify, please contact our Patient Financial Services Department at (541) 706-7750, or at (800) 972-3194.

who work in our emergency department in Bend are not StCharles employees, and while I may be able to share your concerns about your visit with them, StCharles does not employ themThese physicians are part of a private group, Central Oregon Emergency Physicians, which staffs our emergency department.? That is to say, I would encourage you to follow up with their group to express your concerns related to care that you received by a physician.? ? I also understand that you have concerns about your bill.? The $1,that you are disputing reflects charges for the splint for your arm, the IV and medications that you received, and the facility fee for your ED visit.? I am not able to waive your bill, as you request.? ? I do apologize again that your experience at StCharles was not as positive as it could have been.?
