St. Charles Hospital & Rehabilitation Center Reviews (2)

Review: My daughter got hurt playing soccer for her club team at a tournament. She was hit in the head. Her school coach found out and required her to see a specific group of doctors to get cleared for a concussion before she would be allowed to go back to school soccer or even gym class. I called the doctors office and gave them my insurance information to make sure she was covered before I brought my daughter in to b seen. After a couple of mandatory concussion tests and a week of mandatory physical therapy they finally cleared my daughter to go back to physical activity in school. After that was all over I started getting bills. I kept submitting them to my insurance company and finally I was told the remainder of roughly $475.00 wasn't covered. I do not have that kind of money to shell out. I called the billing department at St. Charles and asked them why I was being billed when I was told my insurance would cover this. The women's response was that they only have to check if I will be partially covered, not fully. I do not have the money to pay this nor do I feel I should. To be honest I'm not even convinced my daughter ever had a concussion. I understand the schools need to take this matter seriously but in speaking to many people it seems they are requiring a large amount of kids to get these tests done. They shouldn't be allowed to force you to go to their doctors or your child can't go back to gym. My daughter was 12 at the time she had to take this computer test that is the same as adults. I spoke to an adult who took it and said it is very difficult. I would imagine many kids fail it. I sat in the office while the doctor had my daughter take a few mental and physical tests and I thought to myself that I would probably fail them. As you can tell I'm not happy with the entire situation that occurred but I don't feel the doctor's office can tell me I'm covered and then expect me to pay a very expensive bill after the services were completed.Desired Settlement: I want them to settle my bill and show we have a zero balance

At this time, my complaint, ID [redacted] regarding St. Charles Hospital & Rehabilitation Center has been resolved.

The [redacted] office called me to say that I signed a paper stating there wouldn't be any out of pocket expense and if I get another bill to call them because I have a zero balance.

Review: I went to St. Charles Hospital in February of 2013 due to fevers brought on by my [redacted] treatments. (I was told that while on [redacted] if I have a temp of over 100.9, I should go to emergency room to be monitored until temp goes down). I chose this hospital because they took my insurance. When their, the attending physician decided to send in a [redacted] to see me who's specialty had nothing to do with why I was there. I told the [redacted] that I did not need his service because of the sole nature of my being there. He quickly left and that was that. The next thing I know, I am receiving a bill for $400+ from the [redacted]. When I called to question it, I was told that he does not take my insurance and that because he treated me, I was responsible for the bill. I told them I will not pay a bill for a doctor that did not even treat me. I called the hospital and told them I did not think it is fair that they send doctors in to see patients that do not take the insurance that the hospital takes. On top of it, his services were not even needed since I was there for something very specific. Three different hospital representatives agreed with me, saying they get calls like mne frequently, but that this is the hospital's policy and practice, and that there was nothing they can do.Desired Settlement: I believe `that the hospital should cover the bill and put it through the insurance.

In fact, we provide easily accessible and readily available information on numerous avenues through which individuals may express their issue. In addition, we make every effort to resolve customer complaints in a satisfactory manner to all parties.

[redacted]’s complaint involves a private voluntary attending who was called in to consult on [redacted]. Consultations, as with all provision of medical care at St. Charles, are made based on clinical necessity and not based on the patient’s insurance or ability to pay.

We appreciate [redacted]’s complaint and have, in fact, reached out to him on several occasions to assist in having this matter resolved. Since this issue involves a private physician, [redacted] was advised to contact the physician group who provided services to discuss any outstanding balance and ways to resolve the matter.
