On or about 10-*-15 [redacted] was informed that the repair job was complete.  Mr. T[redacted] has been rarely in the office and was under the impression that [redacted] was continuously happy with our loyal services. Despite allegations being made, this is the first time our office has been...

notified of [redacted]'s dissatisfaction of the repair job. However, the matter is being looked into now and will most definitely be made right for [redacted]. St. Charles Monuments does not ever take justified disapprovals from the families that we help lightly. Had [redacted] contacted our office since the repair job like she claims she has, the matter would have been looked into sooner.[redacted]

Review: We ordered a tombstone in MAY 2013. On 3 separate occasions we informed the store there was NO ~SPACE~ between the [redacted] in our family's last name. We were assured there would be NO ~SPACE~ between the [redacted] on the tombstone. When the stone was finally finished EIGHT months later, in JANUARY 2014, there WAS a ~space~ between the [redacted].

The store employee named [redacted], with whom we had dealt with from the beginning in May 2013, denied responsibility. Does he really believe we do not know how to spell our last name? [redacted] assured us the ~space~ issue was a "quick fix" & provided the name & number of a repair engraver, [redacted] picked up the stone for correction in January 2014 & stated it would be a "3 week" repair. In MAY 2014 [redacted] promised the stone would be placed by Mother's Day.

In JULY 2014 we contacted [redacted] again as there was still NO TOMBSTONE installed at the cemetery. [redacted] reported that he attempted to install the tombstone, but the BASE stone was the wrong size. We contacted [redacted] again, who REFUSED to discuss or document how the wrong size base stone was purchased. [redacted] stated the base stone would arrive in "2 or 3 weeks because it was coming from Vermont".

In AUGUST 2014 we contacted [redacted] twice & twice we received the same excuse: "the base stone would arrive in 2 or 3 weeks because it was coming from Vermont".

In SEPTEMBER 2014 we called [redacted] again to follow up on the base stone. [redacted] told us the same excuse for the FOURTH time. When we asked for proof of the date the base stone was ordered & for the name & contact number of the facility in Vermont, he became belligerent & refused to speak with us.

There are also two financial issues. [redacted] the repair engraver is charging us $375 to fix the ~space~. We don't believe we should have to pay the fee, as we were diligent with [redacted] about the ~space~ issue on three separate occasions & have already paid well over $3,000 for a stone that is not installed SIXTEEN MONTHS after it was ordered. Then, in January 2014 [redacted] stated we had previously paid the "$1,015 Cemetery Fdt. Fee" thru the St. Charles Cemetery in January 2013. [redacted] stated the remaining balance due would be deducted $826 as reimbursement of the "Fdt. Fee". When my brother asked about the $189 difference, [redacted] claimed there was a "filing fee" & would not discuss, or document, the issue further.Desired Settlement: We just want the tombstone CORRECTLY installed before "the ground freezes" (which was another excuse we have received from [redacted] in the past) & then have to wait until SPRING 2015, which would be TWO YEARS for a project that is supposed to take 6 months (see their website).

We also would also like to DISPUTE the $189 difference from the "Cemetery Fdt. Fee" refund & the $375 charge from [redacted] the repair engraver, as we do NOT believe we are responsible for the incorrect spacing on the stone.

We have contacted "7 On Your Side"; St. Charles Cemetery, Consumer Affairs of Suffolk County & The NYS Monument Builders Association with the hope that someone will assist us in getting the tombstone installed. Thanks for your time and consideration with this issue.

Response:

As a company we acknowledge the concerns of the [redacted] family and we take it very seriously.

However we feel that it is important to state actual facts with supporting documentation. The [redacted] order was placed on 5/**/2013 by [redacted] with [redacted] who was the employee at the time. On 5/**/13 we received a drawing back with changes requested, said changes were made and a new sketch was issued to [redacted] that noted an additional charge of $65 for extra lettering would be added to the final balance. On 6/**/2013 we received a signed approval from [redacted] approving the design and all lettering there was clearly a space in the last name on all signed forms by the actual purchaser [redacted]. The spacing in the last name was not brought to out attention until [redacted] gave the final approval of the stone.

In closing it is important to not that [redacted] did not involve herself until Sept 2014 she was not even sure where the monument was purchased from. Also in May of 2013 I [redacted] lived in [redacted]. I moved to Long Island Sept **, 2013.

I understand [redacted] being frustrated however when she did call our company on 2 occasions she became belligerent and using profanity to our workers at which time both phone calls were ended, she was also informed that due to the sensitivity of a monument purchase for a loved one that we only release information to the purchaser as well as the owner of the actual plot. [redacted] is not the purchaser and has zero rights to the grave at St. Charles cemetery.

All supporting documentation Orderform, Cemetery Receipt, Approved Drawing, Employment records for [redacted], will be submitted to the Revdex.com for there use in resolving this complaint.

Review: My husband passed away and I went to St Charles Monuments to add his date of death to the headstone. The date was put next to my name- Mr. T[redacted] stated the matter would be taken care of . The date was taken off next to my name and added next to my husbands name, however the wrong entry was blacked out and the headstone looks terrible. Mr. T[redacted] was notified about the mistake and his attitude was one "[redacted]". I paid for the work in advance and have dealt with St. Charles before and had no trouble. I told M., T[redacted] he would be hearing from my Attorney and he was very nasty about the whole situation. I think this was handled very poorly and would like to file this complaint.Desired Settlement: A new headstone to replace the destroyed one by St. Charlers Monuments.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I went to see Mr. T[redacted] and explained the date was put by the wrong name. He stated that it would be taken care of weithin the next week. I did not hear from them until mid August that the correction was made. I had my niece and her husband go to the grave site to see if the correction was made, it was made however the date that was taken off could still be seen. It looks as if the incorrect date was painted over with black paint and this was supposed to be corrected. You can still see the incorrect date by my name. I want this fixed correctly or I will be turning this over to my attorney.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Business

Response:

Review: St. Charles Monuments was hired to create/install a gravesite monument. The monument has been paid in full based on contract details but the monument has yet to be installed even though the monument has been made.Desired Settlement: Numerous phone calls/conversations have been had and no timing and resolution have been provided by Julia and Marcus. If the job is not completed, then legal action will be taken.

Response:

The Erdman family was continuously made aware that unfortunately we cannot give out exact dates of installation due to a number of possibilities preventing installation of a memorial, IE: machinery breakdown, poor weather, nearby funerals, trouble with foundations that are poured by the cemetery workers.
