On May **, 2015 I rushed to the St. John's river side hospital's emergency room with my 6 year old daughter. She had been breaking a fever during the night. She woke up at about 1 am with a high fever & vomiting. I rushed to the hospital & waiting in the lobby for about an hour. At that point another mother ran in with her child. When the receptionist called our name to check us in the other mother ran in to get seen before us. The receptionist later apologized for not coming out to get us & just screaming names from her seat behind the wall & allowing the other woman to be seen even though we had been waiting an hour & she had just walked in 5 minutes before. I wasn't upset with the other woman because I am a mother & I know how terrifying it is to rush to an emergency room with a very young & sick child. She was in a paid I get it. Finally when we were checked in we were put in the same room as that woman & her child. The nurses or doctors didn't come in to check on either one of our children until about an hour later when that mother started roaming up & down the hallways screaming about why her daughter hadn't been seen yet. At the point two doctors came in with a nurse to check on only her child. One of the nurses told one of the doctors that my child had been waiting just as long & still hadn't been seen, that doctor just looked at my daughter said "ok" & walked out. Two hours passed & my daughter still hadn't even been check on by not even a nurse. We went out into the hallway to find the bathroom. Laying on a stretcher in the hallway was a woman moaning in pain completely pale and all alone. The doctor that was told that my daughter was still waiting was sitting at the desk eating & doing something on a computer. I asked her where we could find a bathroom & with a nasty attitude & tone told me where the bathroom was. It was like I had offered her by asking her where it was. After that two nurses finally came into the room to take my daughters temperature. About 30 minutes after that Dr.M[redacted] finally came in to see my daughter. She said she was going to have a nurse give her Tylenol & a pill to stop her from vomiting. She said my daughter probably had a virus &I to bring her to our pediatrician in the morning (it was 5 am at this point). A nurse came in to ask my daughter for a urine sample which she couldn't give them at that moment because she had just used the bathroom a half an hour before that. I made her finish a bottle of water & went back to the bathroom to get the sample. When I tried to give it to the male nurse he told me to wait in our room for 5 minutes for him to bring her the Tylenol & pill and he would take the sample at that time. We waited another 40 minutes. It was only till the woman we were still sharing a room with started to yell & complain about the wait time again that a different nurse came in I have my daughter the Tylenol & pill but she forgot to take the [redacted] sample with her. It was around 6:30-7 am at that point & I was so upset at the time I stormed out of the hospital with my daughter. At about 9 am Dr. M[redacted] called & left a message on my cell saying they were not even sure if I had left the hospital & if I was coming back to pick up a prescription she wrote for god knows what. I didn't not go back & I will never go to that hospital or recommend that hospital to anyone. The staff is incompetent & even the doctors have no bedside manner, or compassion for their patients. After this horrible & frustrating experience I received two separate bills. One from the hospital for $954 and one from Dr. M[redacted] in the amount of $293. Over a thousand dollars and to this day I still have no idea what had my child waking up with a fever & vomiting in the middle of the night.

+1

Review: I am writing to express my continuing dissatisfaction and frustration with St. John Riverside Hospital to uphold their contract with [redacted] and continuing to bill and harass my husband and me. My husband had outpatient surgery performed on his broken arm at St. Johns Riverside Hospital. Our insurance, [redacted] denied the claim sent by the hospital and has requested additional information to be provided. The hospital has ignored the request to provide the information needed and has decided to bill us directly to receive payment. I contacted our insurance, who has provided Explanation of Benefits to a number of different people at the hospital, directing them to not bill us because the patient is not responsible. St. Johns Riverside Hospital is a participating hospital of [redacted] and this is against their contract to bill the patient. The insurance and I have tried to explain numerous times to the hospital to stop billing us, but they have ignored all efforts. I have just been directed to contact the hospital’s business office, who directs the billing department to invoice patients. My insurance representative spoke with [redacted] (------------------ and has said that either the patient or the insurance has to pay and is basically ignoring contract with the insurance.

We are at our wits end and are afraid that the bill will go into collections. I have made numerous calls to both hospital and insurance over this last year and it seems as though no one is on our side and the hospital makes their own rules and can do whatever they want to get paid; this includes ruining and stressing out our lives. While this back and forth is going on, our credit and mental health is taking a hit.Desired Settlement: Stop billing and calling the patient
