St. Louis Eye Clinic

This is in response to your letter dated November 15, 2016.We are an Ophthalmology Practice with five locations. This patient presented herself on May 11, with complaints of needing a complete eye exam. Patient is a know Diabetic and stated the day of the exam that her blood sugar
fluctuates. Upon examination, her visual acuity was noted to be 20/right eye, corrected to 20/25+1; left eye was 20/30, best corrected to 20/20, with a reading add of +2.50, J-1. Patient was not wearing any prescription glasses at that time. A prescription for glasses, which showed a significant improvement, was given to the patient that day. Pupils were within limits. Fields were full. Extraocular muscles were full. She was diagnosed with bilateral contacts, and diabetes and to return in one year.Patient did not get her prescription glasses until February 29, and did not pick them up until weeks later, approximately, months after her exam. This prescription could have changed from when she was examined to when she picked up her glasses due to cataract and diabetic changes, however, if she would have called us and explained this situation, we would have been happy to schedule her for a "glass check" as a courtesy.Now, months after her initial exam, she is stating her glasses are incorrect and we should refund her co-pay and the cost of her prescription. Due to her diagnosis, we feel this is why her prescription changed and no error caused by StLouis Eye Clinic
