This is the response to customer complaint ID: [redacted]. Sadly, what [redacted] had said was correct.  We are closing our pharmacy.  We made the sad decision to stop mailing out of state on 08/30/2016.  We have returned our state licenses for other states, as required by law when...

closing a pharmacy. We sent automated messages out to all patients with pending orders with us on August 30th and 31st.  We cannot recommend or guarantee prices at other pharmacies.  We can certainly transfer the prescription to any pharmacy of the patient or guardian's choosing.  Which [redacted] did offer.  However, [redacted]'s suggestion to inquire about other pharmacies from the physician's office is a very valid and reasonable suggestion.  I can confirm that the customer's card was never charged and was deleted out of our computer system just as [redacted] verbally confirmed.  The original request of [redacted] our pharmacist, was a printout of the patient's prescription profile without the credit card information as confirmation to be emailed. However this is a Health Privacy violation per HIPAA's HITECH Act.  Which the customer was informed at the time of the request.  [redacted] did offer to send an email or note saying that the card was deleted.   Thank you, [redacted] PharmD MBA Director of Operations Commons Community Pharmacy 9407 Norton Commons Blvd Ste 101 Prospect, KY 40059 [redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[I ordered my prescription on 8/25, well before you decided to close and not mail scripts. It should have been sent. I received NO phone calls or email communication on 8/30 or 8/31 stating that the pharmacy was closing and would not be able to provide my medication. [redacted] did not offer to transfer the prescription to another pharmacy, he told me that I had to call my doctor to have it sent somewhere else. [redacted] did not offer to send an email confirmation of the removal of my credit card info, in fact he very rudely asked if I thought he should send a photo of the garbage can with my info in it. As a pharmacist I know HIPPA laws and know that he could have offered to mail the requested info to my daughter, the patient. It is unfortunate that the business has closed but I know they have other pharmacies and should have offered to complete the transaction through one of them because I ORDERED IT ON 8/25/2016, before the date they closed and stopped mailing. I only found out I would not receive the medication because I called THEM to see where it was. This situation is very poorly handled and should reflect upon their other businesses.  Regards,
