I purchased a headstone on May I purchased this headstone through the cemetery and the principle party [redacted] She made a rough drawing of how I wanted it to read, gave me a choice of headstones where I was to choose 1, and I paid her in full $cashShe informed me she would have to pour a footed for the headstone to be placed on and that would be the price quoted was to cover everythingI have her signed receiptI gave it a couple months before contacting her after driving to the cemetery where my family member is buriedNo headstone I called and spoke to Ms [redacted] where she explained they sent the headstone and she had to return it because they had the dates wrong I accepted her explanation Waited a couple more months before checking again at which time Ms [redacted] will now not answer the phone when I call, will not answer the door when I drive there I have left repeated messages with my name, number, reminder of the headstone and the persons name

With the guidance of a new board and many volunteers, StStephen's Cemetery is a respectful resting place and cemetery The previous caretaker spent the last years taking advantage of families' grief, did only the minimum maintenance, was extremely lapse in keeping and maintaining records The improvement in the cemetery grounds since last March is remarkable Going thru the old records and trying to piece that puzzle together will take more time Rest assured, efforts are being made, and progress is happening I have family buried there and I am pleased with how the cemetery is being cared for

The cemetery has no president now and the cemetery has no leadership the family members can contactThe cemetery needs preservation and a clean up was done by family members due to the horrible conditions the caretakers left the cemetery inThe ground is sinking in area's, uneven, and people can't find headstones or uncertain of family members resting placesWho is the owner of the cemetery to contact for preservation of the cemetery?

I want to praise Susan Settles (the new caretaker of StStephen’s Cemetery) for improving the condition of StStephen’s CemeteryWhen she became the caretaker about year ago, she took on a dilapidated cemetery which was poorly ran by the previous caretakerSusan holds another full time job, and she spends the remainder of her time off taking care of the cemeteryTo name a few things, she transports her own lawnmower from her house to cut the grass, she does weeding around every headstone, she picks up the trash, answers numerous phone calls and deals with disgruntled family members of the deceased over things that were out of her control when the previous caretaker was in charge of the cemeteryThese are only a few things that I know of that she handlesWhy am I writing this? The condition of StStephen’s Cemetery is very important to meMy year old daughter is buried there along with the rest of my familyThe former caretaker let the cemetery go, and I was relieved when Susan took overShe’s done a tremendous jobIt’s so important to me that the cemetery is well kept, being that it is the only place I can visit my daughterI ask that you please recognize Susan Settles for a job well done

The StStephens Caretaker is helpful and attentive and very knowledgeable about the cemeteryI remember as a child visiting the cemetery with my grandmother, but could not locate our family graves with the information left to me by my parentsThe internments were over one hundred years ago and the headstones are no longer intactThe caretaker provided me with the grave numbers and locationsShe gave me a map of the cemetery so that I can share the information with other family membersI really appreciated the caretaker's friendly welcome and prompt, efficient assistance

Company contacted her and are sending her a refund

I became president of the Board on 3/30/2017.  The multiple [redacted] groups were all notified and they each had hundreds of members. There was a clean up day at the cemetery 3/19/2017 during which time [redacted] was president for a 3 1/2 week time period right before I took over. The...

cemetery is an Association, it is owned by itself and requires a Board of Directors to manage and maintain it. There are 2 phone numbers available [redacted] and [redacted] as well as [redacted].com email, [redacted]   Louisville, Ky [redacted] mailing address, I have made it publicly known that I work a day job, but go to the cemetery every single day after work for an hour or more, always willing to make an appointment, and spend the majority of Sunday, Monday and some Tuesdays on site for anyone that would like to stop by.  The families can not plant trees and shrubs because they grow up, roots grow  and cause headstones to lean and are unlevel then damage headstones. That is why it is not allowed.  The cemetery has issues like that already. It is not a large cemetery with a lot of space and almost every part of the cemetery has headstones or graves already there.

These issues were with the former care taker that was terminated 3/8/2017 for her behavior and poor job performance. We can not purchase plots in other cemeteries. This is a familiar complaint.  We have requested that a monument company assist us on this case.  I was told a couple weeks...

ago that the monument company was trying to schedule an appointment with the family. The 2 piece headstone has been separated. Neither piece is broke but refusal for us to put the top back on the base has been unsatisfactory for this family. They refuse to allow us to help.[redacted]

As I have stated before, the New Board has been trying to resolve many complaints, many of which are due to never receiving headstones that were paid for.  If you could send me a copy of this complaint we will do what we can to resolve this issue. There is currently a Class Action Lawsuit...

ongoing against St Stephens Cemetery and some we are unable to contact for that reason.  But if any way possible our goal is to beautify and regain a great reputation with its families. [redacted]

I know of this complaint, but have never seen it and do not know any contact information to try and resolve the issue. I would Like to have a copy of this one so we can correct the issue created by the former caretaker.  If you can not send us a copy, can you forward our information to the...

party?Revdex.com WILL FORWARD YOUR COMPLAINT INFORMATION TO THE COMPANY

The complaint has been resolved. Consumer happy.

Contact information requested so I can follow up on this complaint.  There are several headstone issues that we are addressing currently but without a name I can not be sure if I have had any contact with this particular person. I can say we are issuing refunds to all the families that are...

missing headstones providing there is a receipt available to show proof of purchase to the former caretaker. Some families do not have receipts and we have been able to provide a few, not all records were given to the new Board.  We are working to resolve as many issues as we possibly can.[redacted] President
