Staffier accused me of missing an appointment in [redacted] of in which they have charged me [redacted] This is an erroneous chargeStaffier accused me of missing an appointment in [redacted] in which they have charged me [redacted] This is an erroneous chargeI did not have an appointment or called with more than hours notice to cancelImmediately upon seeing this charge I spoke with the therapist and office staff asking to correct this billing errorthey said they would look into itI followed up to have them correct this charge and they passed it from one person to the next and no one person in particular took responsibility for it and no one person was able to be named the contact point person for this issueNow they have reported this to credit agencies and collectionI consider this bullying, harassment, and just wrongThis was their billing error and I am not responsible for this chargeI did miss an appointment in [redacted] because my house flooded the afternoon of an evening appointment [redacted] worth of damahave insurance documentation)I explained the situation prior to appointment and they felt I should have been able to come to appointment rather than deal with this emergencyAlthough that is asinine, I did pay that [redacted] missed appointment fee in [redacted] of 2013, because I did miss an appointmentIf I had an appointment on [redacted] I called with enough notice to cancel the appointmentI was well aware of their cancelation policyI spoke with them immediately after being charged and they ignored meI also commented on bills in writing many times stating the charge was an errorThese comments in writing were also ignoredI recently wrote a letter in response to the collection agency on [redacted] and cc:d StaffierThis letter was also ignored and I have since received another collections letterI need them to correct my credit report and drop this ridiculous erroneous feeMany many thanks for any help you can provide.Desired SettlementDrop the erroneous fee, make correction to my credit report, never contact me againBusiness Response All patients sign treatment agreements before their initial treatments at StaffierThis patient signed one as wellOur agreement specifically stated that "all missed appointments that are not cancelled hours before the scheduled time will carry a payment of [redacted] This patient knew and agreed to this policyTherefore her claim was baseless and errorneous.Besides, this is a patient who has enjoyed a special privilege of her co-pays been waived for years due to "hardship" which she claimed We therefore, have gone beyond fairness and decency to accommodate this particular patient's needIn this case, we believe that she needs to take responsibility for her actionsWhen patients set up appointments for either therapy of medication management, our clinician sets aside the time for the particular patient and when the patient does not show up, not only does the therapist or Psychiatrist waste that time on the patient who do not keep their appointment, such time could have been spent to treat other patients who need the serviceOne thing we do is that if she had cancelled her appointment for whatever reason, we wouldn't have been discussing this nowIronically, shes not even alluding to her missed appointment, and acknowledging that the [redacted] was for her missed appointment, she's making it look like we delibrately made up a bill that she didn't owe, and that's not true..This claimant owe this amount and I have proofs that show that we have waived so much in terms of co-pays that we didn't have the need to charge her if she had not missed a scheduled appointment Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)This is not acceptable response and perhaps I was not clearI did cancel the [redacted] appointment in questionOf course I was aware of the cancelation policyLetting you know about my house flooding hours before an appointment was meant to illustrate the level of life disruption it took for me to miss an appointmentI took complete responsibility as dealing with [redacted] worth of damage to our home, making sure my family was safe, and coordinating clean up services and insurance was my priorityAnd although I called to let Staffier know I would not be present at that night's appointment, I knew it was certainly not hours noticeIt was just a courtesyI absolutely took responsibility for myself and to Staffier and paid a [redacted] miss appointment feeThis was for an [redacted] appointment I missed as a result of the floodingThis happened a month prior to the [redacted] appointment in questionI knew of the policy, took responsibility, and adhered to the policyMy responsibility was to cancel the November appointment with or more hours noticeI did just thatStaffier had a responsibility to acknowledge that callIt did not occur to me they would deliberately create a fineI did have an appointment and I did cancel it with plenty of noticeI understand things happen and perhaps billing didn't get the message that I canceled in timeI further took responsibility immediately upon learning they charged this fee and asked to correct it, which sadly they did not extend the courtesy to talk with me about until reaching out to the Revdex.com two years laterThe agreed upon co-pay price has nothing to do with the missed appointment feeUnless, I can only wonder, is this why they are claiming I missed an appointment? Is this an effort to recoup money? I would never have thought that about the business but I don't see how it could have anything to do with this complaint otherwiseI'm afraid bringing up an agreed upon price is a HIPPA violation.Final Business Response As a provider of services that help others we understand that unforseens do happenI sympathize with the complainant about her flooding incident and we have accorded her more courtesy than she is giving us credit for over the yearsAn example of such is "the agreed upon price" which she alluded toAlthough she is saying here that it may be a "hippa violation" I absolutely disagree with thatThere's is no violation in reminding the complainant how much financial courtesy Staffier Associates has accorded her to prove the point that we have indeed helped her in the pastFor this complainant to have insinuated that we tried to charge her for a missed appointment because of "The agreed price" was absurdStaffier Associates will never deliberately charge anyone for a "missed appointment" after we agree to help them and work with them. The charge in question was for a legitimately missed appointmentWhat this complainant is doing is trying to get out of paying for what she owed by coming up with excuses and looking for which one sticksThe Physician she was seeing here is one of the kindest care-giver I know who would have written off the charge had this been the only occurrence with the complainantShe had been dealt with in best way possible hereShe even knew that and attested to that herselfI think whats fair is fairHow would the complainant feel if the tables were turnedHow would she feel if she was the provider and she has to deal with a patient that blatantly cancels appointments and comes up with statements that make the provider look like someone who can not empathize with the circumstance of their patient after we have done everything humanly possible to help and work with herThe big question is how would this complainant feel if one of her "Customers" perpetually misses appointments; not only wasting her precious time? and denying others who seriously need help the opportunity of getting what they need from the service provider? what the complainant has not realized is that her missed appointments impact other people that could have have been seen at the times that were set aside for her instead of othersAnd her excuses would have been tenable if it was just one instance when she was "flooded" at the house but this happened multiple times and we have helped as much as we couldI think She needs to take responsibility for her actions like she professed and pay up what she owedThanks you
