Stafford Investments Reviews (1)

Review: I paid $1500 to [redacted] which was cashed on 6/5/2013 by mobile deposit which was stamped on the back to [redacted] that was written from my [redacted] account with check #[redacted]. On 7/26/2013 the same exact check (#[redacted]) was redeposit by [redacted] by mobile deposit to [redacted], however, this time the stamp was missing and it was handwritten on the front of the check that is was a mobile deposit. This overdrew my account by approximately $700.00. My wife immediately contacted their administrative assistant, [redacted] telling her. She said she did not realize that the check had been deposited by way of mobile deposit on 6/5/2013 so she accidentally redeposit it on 7/26/2013 but that she notified her bank ([redacted]) to reverse the charges. I finally had to take the checks to my bank on 7/31/2013 because we could not get our money back and our overdraft fees were growing each day. [redacted] (my bank) could not understand how the check got through their system but was going to research it on their end too. I finally received the $1500 back on 8/1/2013 but not the $504.00 in overdraft fees. My wife contacted [redacted] and they said once I sent them my bank statements they would send me my money. I immediately sent them my bank statements and she called them again on 8/4/2013 and spoke with [redacted] who told her he wasn't going to pay it. Then he proceeded to tell her he had changed our lease which states if I am 3 days late I pay an extra $100.00 and now he is not allowing any late & if I am 1 day late he is throwing me out. My wife told him he would need to do a lease and he started yelling at her and told her to talk to his lawyer.Desired Settlement: I would like the overdraft fees that have been charged me of $504.00.

Response:

Please be advised this issue has been resolved. Stafford Investment, LLC immediately acknowledged the error and took the following steps: (1) contacted our bank to request immediate reversal, (2) contacted the tenant's bank to request immediate reversal,(3) informed the tenant that we would reimburse overdraft fees related to the deposit error. On August 1, the tenant requested reimbursement of $[redacted] in overdraft fees. We requested supporting documentation of the $[redacted] for our files. The tenant did not send bank statements as described in the complaint. Rather, they responded that the overdraft fees were actually only $504.00 and e-mailed what

appeared to be a printout from a banking website. Due to the conflicting information provided, we then requested a letter from the tenant's bank certifying the overdraft fees related to the deposit error. The tenant responded on August 6, "Never mind. My bank said they would reimburse the fees. They said it was

their fault for cashing the check twice." We look forward to immediate resolution of this complaint.

Thanks for all your help!

Thank you,

Response:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and find that this resolution has to be satisfactory to me because it took so long to get an answer out of this company that I don't have any of the paperwork anymore and I have since closed that account. I will say that even though the bank paid my overdraft fees with them, it took them approximately two weeks to straighten this entire mess out at which time my family couldn't even buy groceries. The bank hand to send everything to their audit team before I could be reimbursed, hence the urgency for the overdraft fees to be reimbursed which this company chose to simply ignore. I feel they should offer some kind of monetary settlement for this but I'm sure they won't so at this late date I will close this case. I do believe the Revdex.com needs to make note of the fact that their notification came way past the due date (months). I had already been notified that the case was closed due to no response from the company. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved. If the company does not perform as promised I can get back to you at: [redacted]
