Review: I was interested in installing an air conditioning unit for my home and received a quote from [redacted] in February 2012. At that time, he explained that for a little additional money (approx. $800) I could get a heat pump which would cut my gas bill because it is a heat/air unit and it has a 10 year warranty. Even though I had recently had him install a new furnace he convinced me that this was a good option. He installed the [redacted] heat pump on 5/14/12. He asked me for all of my information and stated he would submit it for my warranty.

In the winter of 2012, I had problems with it blowing cold air, he came up twice to service it to get it working. He did not charge me anything or give me an invoice and said it was covered under warranty. The beginning of October 2013, when the weather turned cold again I had the same problem with the heat pump continually blowing cold air. I contacted [redacted] and he was scheduled to service it on 10/25/13. He texted me stating he was having problems with his vehicle and would reschedule which he never did. I had to run my emergency heat with my original furnace the entire winter. I repeatedly called his office, cell phone, and texted him regarding an appointment and he would not return my messages. On November 11, 2013, his son [redacted] (who is an employee) responded on his father’s cell phone stating his father was in the hospital and they would get to us as soon as possible. I have heard nothing since. I have repeatedly called his office, cell phone, and sent text messages for the last 10 months and have received no responses. I sent him a certified letter on July 28, 2014 outlining everything to settle the problem and to date (8/21/14) he has not signed to receive the letter.

I contacted the manufacturer of the heat pump ([redacted]—[redacted] Air Corporation) on August 19, 2014 regarding my warranty information since I have never received any documentation of it. I spoke with [redacted] and gave her my serial number ([redacted]) and she stated it was never registered. She said the contractor has 60 days to register the product for the 10 year warranty. Although he did not register it, I will still receive a 5 year warranty. She said all contractors are independent and not affiliated with the company so she has no recourse against him.Desired Settlement: Due to not having the extended warranty and history of problems with the unit, I request to exchange the Heat Pump for an Air Conditioning Unit and compensation for the difference in price.
