Stahl's Painting Reviews (1)

In May 2013, *** *** contacted me about “re-coating” his concrete carport floor
It should be noted that the floor had previously coated with a low-grade concrete paint, hence the fact it was coming off everywhere upon my arrivalAt the time of the initial estimate the customer was
informed that the previous coating could possibly create a future bonding failure with the new coating if I was not able to remove all the old coating, which I was not.
In May 2013, The initial floor coating was completed and the customer was informed (not) to drive or park on the newly coated floor for a period of at least (7) days to properly allow the coating to cure out
(4) Days later while working in the area I stopped by to inspect the floorI was surprised to see that the customer had been driving across the carport floor as evidence by the tire tracks left by his truck
Not long afterwards the customer called me to say that there were areas of bonding failures.
Upon inspection of the areas it was determined to be the customers (4) truck tires were the cause of the bonding failure due to not allowing the product to fully cure
I agreed to re-coat the entire floor using the same products as the first coating under a warranty basisThe customer was once again informed to (not) drive or park on the floor for (7) days
Several months later the customer called again to report a bonding failure in the same areas due to the same problemUpon inspection it was again determined to be (truck tires) that created the bonding failure in the same areas due to the same problemNot allowing the floor to cure properly
In May 2014, I once again agreed to re-coat the entire floor (3rd Coating) but this time using a (2) part industrial epoxy coating in hopes of solving the problemThe customer was informed to not drive or “especially” not to park on the floor for at least (2) weeks this time in light of previous issues
The very same day I re-coated the floor for the third time the customer called to say there were bubbles visible in the not yet dry epoxy coatingI informed the customer that this was a process of the product (gassing-off) and is in the drying process of a (2) part industrial epoxyAlso I explained that the bubbles would shrink back down and bond when completely dry.
(5) Days after this conversation I stopped by once again to inspect the floorI was actually quite shocked to see that the customer had not only been driving on the floor already but had his motorcycle, truck and (2) heavy concrete planters all setting of parked on the newly re-finished floorThe kickstand from the motorcycle had already put visible scratches in the newly re-coated floor.
This I believe is where my frustration begins and ends with this situation.
This is when I sent an e-mail to the customer informing him of my intent to (Void the Warranty)
In November 2014, The customer contacted me again by e-mail stating that he would like to have some of the left over epoxy if there was any and that he himself would do the touwork this time due the fact that I had previously informed him of his lack of a warranty in this ***erI response, I offered to purchase the $epoxy kit for him to do the touhimself as he had previously stated
The only response I got was this lovely complaint against me
Please let it be known that I take my business, my customers and my workmanship very seriously.
This is evident by the fact that I have been in business for (4) years now and have never had any complaints of any kind what so ever!
I now believe I have done everything one could or would expect to be done by a contractor under the circumstances
My offer to supply the $epoxy kit to the customer still stands as he requested I do
This kit is also enough material for the entire floor to be re-coated if the customer chooses
I’m thinking maybe if he does the floor over himself this time, he would be more like to “stay off” the floor long enough to let it cure out!!
