Review: On 12-9-2013 I received an solicited phone call advertising a "holiday special" on carpet cleaning for "$19.00 a room" which I accepted. On 12-11-2013 the carpet person arrived and immediately cleaned a small portion of carpet to show me how good it would look. Then he said the cost for 2 rooms (front room and hallway) would be $192.00 (before a senior discount of $13.00). When I objected to the difference in cost, he made no offer to clean the carpet for "$19.00 a room". I objected but told him to proceed at cost of $ 179.00. Before any cleaning he never said the "$19.00 a room" would not apply. They never called me later.Desired Settlement: A 50% reimbursement of the $179.00.

Mr. [redacted] called when the tech [redacted] was out there, wanting to know why the price was 179.00. I asked him what [redacted] said and he told me it was for the Dual process(for heavily soiled areas) and the Teflon protector. I told him those were optional services that were explained to him on the phone and they go by the square foot on the area he chooses. That to tell [redacted] he didn't want them and he can just pay the 19.00 per room for the basic steam cleaning. He told me that he did want them, wanted the best cleaning possible. I told him to take off the Teflon protector since it was just something to protect the carpet after it was cleaned, he didn't need it to get the carpet cleaned, but again, he said he wanted it. Mr. [redacted] had a choice to have the dual process and or the Teflon protector applied at .25 sq. ft. and .20 sq. ft. respectfully as he was told when he booked the appointment over the phone and again by me when the tech was in his house, his choice was to have both applied.

Review: I was contacted by Stainmasters with a sales price of $19 a room. I explained that I had only 1 room with wall to wall carpeting and 2 area rugs and a hall runner. I was told that the 1 roomwould be $19 and the technician would give me a quote for the area rugs. I asked if they would be more than $19 and she said she didn't think so. I set it up for between 12 and 2 because I would not be home earlier. They called before 10 and my husband was home and said okay. He had no idea how much it should have been and gave them a credit card. They charged me $153. When I called and complained they said if there is only 1 room with wall to wall carpet, they charge for two. The area rugs are inexpensive polyester. 8x10, 10x12 and two 13 ft runners. Everything was cleaned with a Bissell rug doctor type machine. It took 1 guy 1 hour to complete. He had a helper for the wires, etc.[redacted], the technician, refused to make any concessions on the bill.Desired Settlement: I would like to pay the $19 a room that was offered. I had 3 rooms and a hall. I should have been charged $76 not $153. I would like a refund of $77.

The area rugs are hand done, therefore are charged at a different rate than the wall to wall carpet and [redacted] was explained this over the phone. She has also had this work done numerous times since 2006. So I was surprised to hear of this.
