This business towed my brother's vehicle for $250- cash only. My brother only had $240 and the business said "that was okay." That makes me wonder how "legitimate" that price even was in the first place. The employee had to be asked several times to give a receipt. He was very reluctant about it and said that he can't do that. My husband demanded a receipt and had to get a scrap paper from his own car and had the employee write down that we paid him. It is not itemized or anything. I have attached a picture. The bottom half handwriting is what we have as our "receipt". The rest of the paper was a scrap paper my husband found in his car. The employee that towed our car did not even have a picture proving that our vehicle was not parked correctly. This seems like an illegitimate and unfair business.

I am writing to dispute negative complaint ID# *** - 03/05/2020 made by ***. Incident details:

After normal working hours, I received a call on 02/27/2020 from representative of Maple Ridge Homeowner Association to tow a non-permitted and illegally parked truck. I was told its bumper and hitch extended onto the thruway creating a potential danger to travelers within the plan. I dispatched our tow truck services, picked up the vehicle as instructed, and returned it back to the garage for impound and file paper work of incident. Not long after, I heard on the 911 police scanner said vehicle at the Maple Ridge plan was reported stolen. I appropriately contacted the police department to let them know it was impounded by the homeowners association order and was at my garage. They asked per owners request if I can permit owner to pick up his vehicle that night.

I agreed to permit him to pick up his vehicle even though after hours pickup is an exception to our business operations. Owner arrived to the garage and was unhappy that we impounded his vehicle. I told him the Association ordered the impound and told him the charge for impound tow only fee. He said he did not have cash for that fee and was $10 short of that charge. I have authority and then agreed to compromiser the tow fee and further bypass our company's standard additional impound fees to appease him because he was irate, it was late and I was not on the clock.

My receipt book was empty in the truck. I told him I would have to go upstairs into the office (onsite) to get a receipt or I can mail receipt on the next business day. He said he did not have time and did like either option. He handed me a partial piece of paper and told me to write the receipt info for his records on that paper. Tobliged his request and he left with his vehicle. Our company and I as its representative are disputing this Revdex.com complaint or the following reasons: The customer in this incident was the homeowners association. They notified our company to remove the illegal vehicle and detailed to me why it was to be towed and therefore initiated the claim. I was not obligated to take pictures to verify their request. I completed the request by the homeowners association and to their satisfaction. ***, from the above complaint was not present for this incident and not the person who I was in contact with nor requested vehicle removal from impound.

*** husband, *** was present and irate that his vehicle was impounded and had to pay the impound fee and further to pay in cash. He was very impatient, and refused to to wait for me to go upstairs into the office for a company receipt or accept one to be sent in writing. Our rates are very competitive for after-hour impound tow services. Our rates for 2020 cover expenses for vehicle charges and costs of overtime labor, 1 further discounted our fees for only his benefit:

| was not required to respond to the police scanner and could have let *** handle his missing vehicle directly through the homeowner association causing a time lag and additional costs for him. Even though I was off the clock, I went beyond to respond to the police from the police scanner incident, and accepted pickup after hours which our business does not typically do.

I compromised our basic tow for impound by $10 because *** did not have enough money. Our fees to include separate administration charges, and storage fees which were both bypassed for this customer. These charges in addition to my labor charge to wait for him to pick up his vehicle would have added over $100 to his impound tow fee. While I am not disputing this discount, I want you to understand I was only being kind and bent our policy to help this man.

A towing business is either your friend or your foe depending on the circumstance. Unfortunately when a vehicle is illegal and must be removed, it almost always involves an irate customer. Additionally, in this business, there is a large uncollectible risk so we keep our charges competitive by charging cash only.

in closing, Stan S Wrecking has been a quality towing service business for over 50 years. We provide speedy service and transport for disabled vehicles or immediate impound services for police and homeowner calls within the local community. As a small business, we pride in our service and care to our customers. Our company is a legitimate, fair business and in this case, necessary for homeowner requested impounds. This complaint above puts an unfair detriment of our good name because:

Complaint refuses to accept responsibility for illegally parking his vehicle. Complaint does not understand impound services nor the fair rate structure thereof. We charge a fair, competitive rate for our cost of business and do not provide to any customer a detail accounting how we arrive at our impound tow rate for our equipment, insurance, garage and labor. Detailed expense breakdown to *** for other costs were not necessary in this case because I chose to not charge for these costs since he did not even have enough cash for the basic charge. He received not only a fair rate, he received a discounted rate at only his benefit. We would have been happy to provide a legitimate cash receipt but *** holds ownership of this own impatience by failing to wait for a valid receipt.

We request this complaint be revoked so our company may continue in good standing.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID I will accept this business's response as this is a very difficult time in the world and inconveniences like this seem small at this point; however, I would like to point out that their story is not completely accurate. They kept referring to *** vehicle and as evidenced by my initial complaint and signature on file, the owner of the vehicle was ***, my brother. My suggestion is for them to have better documentation, which may help improve their business as they clearly have no record as to what vehicles they actually tow. Their response neglected to even acknowledge that there were 2 people dealing with them, my brother (who's truck it was) and my husband. The employee did not offer to get a real receipt, but this is their words against ours. I would also recommend they accept other types of payment as most people do not carry a few hundred dollars on them at any given time. I would appreciate if you forwarded my recommendations. Regardless, I hope everyone stays healthy & well. Thank you.
