To whom it may concern, my company responded to a truck and trailer stuck in the mountains by Lava, IDthis is approximately miles from our home base in Pocatello, IDThis type of winch out is a specialty procedure requiring a wheel drive tow truckThe tow truck operator upon arrival
assessed the situation that the customers vehicle and trailer weighed about 20,000lbs and needed to be pulled up a degree inclineThe customer mistakenly understood the tow truck operator to say his emergency brake did not workThat was not the case, the operator said his mico lock brake was not workingThe mico lock brake locks the front and rear brakes of the tow truck so it will anchor more weight thus having more pulling powerBy having someone apply the foot pedal brake on the tow truck we can achieve more anchor ability or we could have called out another man and truck and had to wait another 1/hours or use someone on scene to hold the brakes on the tow truckSo in order to do the job as cost effective as possible the operator did the job aloneThe Wheel drive tow truck we use for off road recoveries only weighs 10,000lbs and will only anchor about 6,600lbs so he knew without bringing another tow truck out to help with the job this was going to be hard to do, not that he did not know how to do itAfter rigging the winch line to pull the Ford Fand 28ft camp trailer up the hill my driver asked to have someone apply the foot brake in the tow truck to gain more pulling powerHe also used scotch blocks on the rear of the truck to stop the truck from rolling backwardThe emergency brake did work, just not the mico lock brake that engages all wheelsMy tow truck driver had the customer drive the Ford Fto lower the resistance of the pullThe only thing wrong with the Ford Fwas the 4Wheel drive did not workso it was fine to drive and help with the operationWhile winching the Ford Fup the hill the tow truck slips backwards a little while getting a bite into the groundAt no time was the person sitting on the brakes in danger of being drug down the hillThe customer driving the Ford Fcould also use his brakes so he would not go backwardsWe were able to get the truck and trailer up the hill with no damage and no one was hurtThe Job took hours at $per hour for a total of $1,We discounted the job to $per hour for a total of $1,our pricing is consistent with what other towing services that have Wheel Drive tow trucks charge to go up in the mountains to do this type of recovery, from $to $per hourDon't forget the liability our company has in doing this jobIf any one gets hurt or the vehicles get damaged it could cost us a lot more than $1,We take on all the liabilityWe were successful in doing the job and charged a fair priceI'm sorry you were so scared, it can be quite scary in a situation like thatMy driver did not instill the confidence he should have, the he would be successful and safe

In the event of an nonconsensual tow and impound we still treat every vehicle with the respect we treat our everyday customers, because that's how we want you to feelThe Pocatello Police Department made the call to our company to tow and store your vehicle which was disabled at the time and deemed
necessary to be towedThe mileage charged was for miles, as stated on your copyNo explanation was ever requested, it's not as though it was refusedAs for any damages claimed, during the loading or unloading processes your vehicle would not have been damaged in the ways describedWe'd still be willing to inspect and evaluate the damages to determine responsibilityWe treated you with respect and even offered a copy of the Police Impound Report that you claimed to not recieved from the PoliceThis is not a report we ourselves writeRefer to Idaho code Chapter 49-1803A for more information on your responsibilities.Kris B***Office ManagerStan's Pro TowsEGould, Pocatello, Id, 83201208-478-
