Standard Parking Corporation Reviews (1)

Review: I paid $110 to park in Standard Parking's [redacted], VA location from Sep 2- October 1, 2013. On 9/8/13, the garage door broke, leaving me no access to my car. I was forced to take public transportation that day & provided a number to call to be reimbursed for my expenses. When I returned the next day to use my car, I saw the car door was broken with the door stuck halfway up, allowing easy access to the public to all parked cars. I left several message between 9/11/13 & 9/15/13. On 9/15/13, I finally spoke to [redacted]. I explained that I would like to be reimbursed for my public transportation costs and no longer felt safe parking my car at their location. I requested a prorated refund for the remainder of the month. [redacted] agreed and requested I email him so he had the request in writing. That same morning (9/15/13), I emailed the following:

Hi, [redacted],

Thank you so much for understanding re: my discomfort with parking in the [redacted] garage with no door. I was hoping you can please cancel my monthly parking & refund me $77 for not parking 9/16-10/6 ($110-$33 for parking 9/7-9/15), in addition to $6.20 for the inability to use my car on Sun, 6/8. As requested, I have attached a screenshot of the charges from WMATA. They are the last 4 transactions.

Please send my check to: [redacted] VA [redacted] Once you inform me when the transaction has been processed, I will return my key card to the garage. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns.

Thank you,

On 10/8/13, I received a voicemail from [redacted] at Standard Parking informing me that I would not have access to the garage (not realizing I had not been parking there for a few weeks). I called him back & reminding him of the refund & transportation costs he had agree to refund me. He requested I email a screenshot of the expenses along w/ my new mailing address, reiterating he would send the check there the next morning. I emailed both when I got off the phone on 10/8/13.

On 10/9/13, I emailed to follow up to see if he had sent the check. On 10/9/13, [redacted] responded to me w/ the following message & copied his boss, [redacted].

Hi [redacted],

I have forwarded your email to my boss and will be processed soon. I apologize again for the delay. Thanks,

On 10/9/13, I spoke to **. [redacted]. **. [redacted] agreed that Standard Parking would mail me a check for 1/2 a month's rent, plus the additional expenses for public transportation when I did not have access to my car on 9/8/13.

It is now 11/3/13 and I have yet to receive a check from them. I have not included dates re: additional times I have attempted to contact them b/c I did not keep records of those.

If you can please assist me in receiving the promised refund, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Sincerely,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: For Standard Parking to refund me 1/2 month's rent ($55), plus $6.20 for public transportation costs when I did not have access to my car. TOTAL = $$61.20

**. [redacted] signed a monthly parking application agreeing to provide 30 days written notice to cancel the monthly parking account after it was established. Whereas the reason for the extra-ordinary request to cancel mere days after opening the account was listed as safety, upon submission of the request to the senior manager for approval it was noted that the customer moved out of the area. Senior management investigated this matter with the local staff to determine if the request was legitimately a safety concern. Upon discussion with the customer (10/11/2013), the request for 1/2 monthly parking fee plus $6.00 was approved. Refund requests typically take between 4 and 6 weeks to process. Customer should be in receipt of said refund at this time.
