Review: We had Standard Roofing and Siding put a new roof on our house last May. We had previously had multiple leaks and every time we had repairs done the leaks would come back months or years later. We explained all this to them in detail and (despite the fact that the roof was only 8 years old and did not need to be completely replaced) we decided to have it completely replaced to make sure that it was done correctly and there would be no further leaks. The owner assured us that there would be no leaks and that if there were, he would have them fixed at no cost. Less than six months later we had a leak on the back patio and he blamed it on the siding (which was done well before the roof was put on) and refused to fix it. A few months later we had more leaks on the back patio and also one in the living room. He again blamed all this on the siding and refused to fix it. After multiple complaints, he finally had his workers come out to take a look. I videotaped them pulling the siding off so we could see the flashing where the back patio meets the garage, and the flashing was only three inches in each direction, despite the fact that the code stipulates they must follow the instructions of the shingles, and those instructions (which I printed out online) state that the flashing must be five inches in each direction. Despite all of this, they refused to redo the flashing and simply added a sheet of aluminum and some caulking along this wall of the patio. They did not even look at the dormer that was leaking into our living room. They simply put some more caulking around it. The leak also resulted in damage to our brand new living room ceiling, which we had had replaced after they put the new roof on. Despite multiple phone calls, the owner still refused to redo the flashing, even though his worker admitted that they only used three inches because that is what they always use (his words).Desired Settlement: We initially wanted them to redo the flashing correctly to stop the leaks. But at this point, we feel they have simply been too dishonest to trust to do the work correctly. We therefore want them to pay for us to have another contractor redo the flashing correctly, and also to fix the damaged portion of the living room ceiling that is a result of the leaky roof they put on.

TO : WHOM IT MAY CONCERNTHIS PATICULAR CUSTOMER HAD A ROOF INSTALLED BY A PRIOR CO. IN WHICH THEY DID A VERY BAD JOB TOOK THIER MONEY AND LEFT THEM WITH LEAKS. THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THEM TO HAVE A BAD ATTITUDE TOWARDS ROOFERS IN GENERAL HOWEVER THEY CALLED ON US AND WE INSTALLED A NEW SHINGLED ROOF MAY OF 2015. LATER IN MARCH OF 2016 THE CUSTOMER INFORMED US THEY HAD TWO LEAKS SO WE WENT OUT RIGHT AWAY AND DISCOVERED THAT THE VINYL SIDING WAS NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY AS WELL AS A DEFECTIVE FASCIA TRIM AT THE DORMER AND A MISSING GUTTER AT THE DORMER . THIS WORK IS NOT ON OUR WORK ORDER . THIS WAS THE WORKMANSHIP OF THE SIDING INSTALLER. THE CUSTOMER ASKED IF WE WOULD CHECK THINGS OUT AGAIN SO WE CAME OUT AND ADJUSTED THE VINYL SIDING (AT NO CHARGE)SO IT WOULD LAP PROPERLY AND WE CHECKED THINGS OUT AGAIN FOR THEM. THE ROOF IS IN TACT. WE THEN WAITED FOR THENEXT RAIN AND TALKED WITH THE CUSTOMER THEY SAID IT DOES NOT LEAK. THIS CUSTOMER FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON WILL NOT CALL ON THE SIDING CO. WHO INSTALLED THE SIDING AND FASCIA . WE SUGGEST THEY HAVE A GUTTER CO. REPLACE THE MISSING GUTTER AND HAVE THE SIDING CO. REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE FASCIA TRIM AT THE DORMER THAT IS BENT OUTWARD.
