They do not do what they promiseThe salesman said they would test out our current system and replace the parts that needed replacementWhen it never worked they would not stand behind their productNever do business with themCurrently suing for the money I already paid them

DO NOT EVER EVER EVER sign a contract with this companyIt is a total scamThere is simply no need to sign a year contract, ever with any company and woe to you if you need to move, have new equipment installed (because the old equipment is useless, dated or easily hacked)They will force you to sign a new agreementAs for me, they sent a Standard Oil guy along during my inspectionI was so busy with the details regarding the mortgage at that point that I stupidly signed for them to take over the security MONITORING on my house (please note that they did not install any equipment), and it sounded like a low enough rate for my security at the time ($a month)Only when I began to have issues and needed to fix things did I realize that they signed me up for a month contract, but also that they were charging me an arm and a leg for any improvementsOnce I began to talk to other companies, who were willing to upgrade my panels, convert to wireless (rather than a phone line based security system), did I realize that these dudes are in the dark ages with their systems and support modelsAny criminal can easily break in to the system by cutting the phone wireI may as well not have any securitySo now I'm going to cancel after paying them for nothing for years and it's STILL $I have since cancelled my oil contract with Standard as well because I frankly don't trust this company ATAllPeriodI will never do business with them again in my life and am going to spread the word everywhere I can so others don't fall victimHorrible, misleading, lying scoundrelsThe final thing is, as usual with these complaints, when I tried to cancel the service on Friday, 6/22/18, I spoke with a guy named Vincent in Sales who said he had to have another woman call me back to cancelTypical ploy from a lying companyOf course no one called me backI called back on Saturday and talked to a guy who said that no one could help me as the sales department is only open Monday thru FridayWhen I spoke to Vincent, I told him I was going with another company and needed to cancelHe knew damned well that I would not be able to setup with the new company due to the lack of him cancelling

On July 7th, after having been repeatedly over billed, I sent a letter to Standard Security notifying them that I was canceling my account and terminating our agreement which was well within my right having long since fulfilled the initial period requirement
Over the course of five years, Standard Security failed on several occasions to keep their books in order claiming that I had not paid my bill on timeThe most recent occurrence, Standard Security provided me with a cryptic account of receipts with posting dates that were two weeks after the due date of payments and long after they had been received per my bank statementsI mailed them proof going back to that my bills were paid on time through the automated payment system that I utilize with my bankThis again resulted in lost time for me to provide receipts and correspondence not to mention unwarranted and threatening phone calls by Standard Securities collection departmentAfter this third occurrence I decided that

Look elsewhereNot only do you have to commit to a 60-month contract because they are installing "$equipment" (they mark up significantly)The customer service is AWFULEven the manager Eric is condescending and unhelpfulTake my advice and stay away!

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT SIGNING THEIR CONTRACTIF YOU MOVE AND WANT TO TAKE THE SERVICE WITH YOU, THEY STILL CHARGE YOU A TERMINATION FEE (mine was in for one month and I had to move they were going to charge me $even if I had them install and monitor a system in my new house)They are awful

Used Standard Security years ago and loved them Moved back from out of state and installed a new system this month Their service and monitoring is leaps above their competition Reading other reviews it seems people bought their system and lowered their price by locking in for a longer time When you terminate early any contract would true up the financing option When I sat with the sales rep I saw the option and it was clearly explained in I left in years a trwould occur Everything was above boardWhat is most important is they have the best system technically compared to others, and the best monitoring The communications with the office was excellentHighly recommend Their install Tech was incredible to work with

My husband and I are customers of Standard Security Systems Connecticut and have used their oil services in the pastOur complaint is regarding our security system contract that we have had with them for yrsMy husband and I have sold our current home and have purchased a new homeWe contacted Standard to notify them that we would like to transfer our current security system to our new house but were told that in order to do so we would have to pay a cancellation fee of $Additionally, we would have to pay to have a new system installed as well as assume a new contractThe only other option is to transfer the current contract to the new owners of our current home for a one time transfer fee of $- which the buyers have declinedAs the new owners do not want the security system we are now forced to pay the $to"cancel" our contract which we do not want to do - we only want to transfer our security services to the new homeWe do not feel this is fair practice
