original email and it was not until I received your second email notice yesterday that SSI first became aware of the Complaint.While SSI takes all customer concerns seriously, the Complaint appears to be based upon a misunderstanding of exactly what SSI offers to potential residential solar customers. SSI’s website (the “Website”) states as follows:“Get started and put the sun to work for you todayWould you like to learn more about a solar panel system for your home?Please complete the form below to learn if solar panels make sense for you. We have Standard Energy Solutions (SES) experts standing by that will discuss your solar options and schedule your free solar energy evaluation.Please note that Standard Energy Solutions serves DC, DE, MD, PA, VA and WV.”(Tittp://www.standardenergvsolutions.com/Residential-Solar-Panels/Get-Star...⇄ note that the Website specifically does not offer an on-site evaluation; this is intentional. Like most other experienced residential solar installers, SSI often uses sophisticated tools and technology to perform these evaluations without the necessity of an on-site visit. These include [redacted]’s proprietary geo-referenced, oblique aerial imagery. As [redacted] notes on its website:“[utilizing] its fleet of 72 aircraft, [redacted] has captured over 210 million data-rich aerial images using its patented capture system - the only oblique camera system to receive USGS certification.Used daily by County Assessment, Public Safety, Defense, Insurance, and Utility professionals, [redacted]’s high-resolution images are geo-referenced and viewable from 5 or more angles, allowing users to precisely measure height, distance, altitude, and surface area directly on the images.”([redacted])Using [redacted]’s proprietary aerial imaging platform, SSI is able to view **. [redacted]’s property and the surrounding area from all relevant angles and perspectives in order to enable it to properly perform the offered solar evaluation without actually visiting his property. SSI did, in fact, perform this evaluation on **. [redacted]’s property using [redacted] imaging and other tools and concluded that his home is not well-suited to solar. His roof is heavily shaded for most of the day due to the orientation of his home, and there are several trees to the south/southwest of his home that will significantly reduce any solar energy production. In combination, these factors eliminate any economic benefit that solar can provide as the system would only operate and produce electricity at a fraction of its capacity. **. [redacted] indicated to SSI personnel that several other solar companies also reached the same conclusion.While we understand **. [redacted]’s frustration in not being able to take advantage of the potential advantages that solar energy can provide, his property in its current state is unfortunately not able to do so and would not yield the economic benefit that the majority solar consumers require in order to justify the investment. As noted above, SSI has confirmed this to be the case using sophisticated aerial imaging technology, and also while it was on-site performing other services (an energy efficiency audit and retrofit) at his home. Review: Business offers free home solar evaluations. After several communications, business refused to do an onsite visit saying it was to far away. The website clearly states they do business in the state of MD. Business has already come to my residence and perform a residential audit. However, they will not come to preform the free home evaluation for solar.Desired Settlement: Preform the home solar evaluation as promised
