happened between Ms. [redacted] and myoffice. Ms. [redacted] called my office to set up and appointment for a deepcleaning. My receptionist who is bilingual, told her in spanish that doctorwould have to examine her first before the office could set up this typeof appointment. My receptionist then scheduled Ms. [redacted] for aconsultation visit on Monday June 15th. I then met with Ms. [redacted] thatday at 4:00pm. She told me thru her friend who acted as her interpreterthat another dentist told her that she needed· deep cleaning on herupper and lower teeth. I told her that not only did I have time toexamine her, I could also do the deep cleaning now. She agreed and said· yes to this suggestion. After careful examination I felt that the upper ·teeth only needed routine cleaning. I told her this and said we could setthat up when I do the polishing of the lowers.I told her that the lower teeth need the deep cleaning , and that is whatwe would do at this visit. Part of the deep cleaning procedure is to takex-rays on the back teeth to see the extent of mineral debris and also anybreak down on the back teeth. She then mentioned to me thru herfriend that the upper right central was bothering her. I had my assistanttell her in spanish that we would also take an x .. ray of the upper frontpg2. teeth. At this time I told her what the cost would be for her treatment.as follws:$150.00 deep cleaning on the lower$40.00 For the x .. rays----------------------------------------------------------------------------... TotalMs. [redacted] agre.ed to this and I had my assistant take the necessary x-rays.I then began the deep cleaning. She did not seem to mind the scraping asI was performing her deepcleaing Nor did she at any time say she wasexperiencing any pain or discomfort, Or I would have anesthesized her. Ihad my assistant explain to her what I was doing and why. When myassistant told her about the mineral build up on the inside area of herteeth, she made a comment stating that she does not clean that area. Now she knows to clean that area and all areas in her mouth.I finished the deep cleaning then went over the x ... rays with her. I toldher that I did not see a reason for her to be experiencing pain on herupper right central. Yet when I touch it, it hurt her.I placed some articulating paper between her teeth and asked her toclose tightly. It left marks on the inside of the tooth where the lowertooth would hit it when she closed her mouth. I asked her if I might· smooth the tooth and the bottom teeth that were hitting it to see ifthat helped. This took about ten minutes and at the end it did not seemto make a big difference. The tooth continued to hurt. I felt bad that Iwas not able to help herwith her problem. My thoughts then went to theuse of a night guard to protect the teeth from being hit by the lowers.· In my office a night guard would cost her $175.00, because it iscustomized and proc·essed by a dental laboratory. I thought I hadaccomplished her wishes taking care of the deep cleaning and letting herknow that she needed to clean all the surfaces of the teeth.I was shocked to get your Revdex.com letter stating there was a complaint· about my dental services. I truely believe that the uppers did not needthe deep cleaning nor would this service stop the dental pain on toothpg 3#08 the upper right central incisor. As for the anesthesia, I do notroutinely just stick my patients with needles. Because the numbnessusually takes about 2-3 hours to wear off. She at no time ever said"ouch" "this hurts" or "can you please get me numb" Both her friendand my assistant were in the room and would have been able to alert meif needed. When a patient recieves a deep cleaning there is unintentional brusing tothe gum tissue. It is very common and normal for a patient to be sorefor a number of days after the therapy. We told her to use warm saltwater rinses a few times a day for a few days afterwards to help thehealing process. As for the antibiotic, they are used to fight bacterial infections. I did notsee any decay or abcess on the upper right central incisor tooth.· Antibiotics are not used to help the healing in the gum tissue bruised bydeep scaling and root planing. This unnecessary use may lead to thepatient becoming allergic to antibiotics. Now to say that my assistant was rude is truely hard to believe. [redacted]is the nicest, kindest person I know. She is totally bilingual and wouldnever laugh or be rude to anyone.Ms. [redacted] never told me that the upper right central incisor was herchief complaint. She made it seem that as long as she was here shewould see if I could do something for it. .I know that the services that I provided for her was I 00% of my energyand profesional ability. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact my office at760-[redacted]Sincerely,Stanley Schaeffer, DDS

Review: I went to the dentist on June 15, 2015 to get a deep cleaning in the top portion of my mouth. The dentist said it was not necessary because he said that I did not have any cavities or dental plaque. The dentist said that all I needed was the deep cleaning in the bottom portion of my mouth. He practiced the deep cleaning without applying anesthesia, damaged my gums, and did a poor job at doing the deep cleaning. He also did not give me any prescription of medication for the pain and he also did not give me any antibiotics. It was a very traumatic experience that I had to go through at this place. The only reason I went was to get a check up since I had been experiencing a severe toothache. The dentist said that I did not need it because I had bone loss and that there was no reason for him to clean the top portion of my mouth due to not having any cavities or any type of infection when in reality there was. They had very bad services and the dentist's assistant was very rude and laughed at my face. I was emotionally damaged. I went to another dentist on June 17, 2015 and they made me feel very welcomed once I walked in the door. They were very friendly and they treated me the way I was supposed to be treated. They treated me for the same reason that I had gone to the other dentist, but they actually did do the deep cleaning and provided me with the services that I needed. They gave me antibiotics and medication. They also treated the infection that I had which could have led to a more serious damage.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back for the poor services that were provided. I do not think that my money was worth for such a poor service. Therefore I went to another dentist that could do a much better job and provided me with the services I needed.
