My husband and are from Monson and decided to have our foot driveway redone with asphaltRichard returned our phone call promptly and came by to give us an estimateWe excepted and the following day the crew and equipment showed up The price we thought was reasonable knowing the labor and equipment involvedThey were extremely professional and the job they did was perfect I would highly recommend this company to anyoneJeff and I thank you again Richard and crew:)

He was hired to repair an issue with our driveway. He did not repair it,he made the problem much worse, and after 2 months it is sinking and cracking. We explained the problem we were having with our driveway. When there were snowbanks in the winter and then if it rained, water would come into the garage. The driveway was originally pitched incorrectly. We explained that we wanted a solution to this issue. He said he could correct it. We agreed on [redacted] we gave him [redacted] in cash on [redacted] 2014 and he installed the driveway. When the driveway was finished we gave him the balance of [redacted] in cash. We told him that we were not happy with the seam down the center. He told us that it would go away after a few weeks, it has not. The edges of the driveway are cracking and in some places it is actually breaking off into the lawn. The finish on the driveway is also not smooth; it looks like gravel not blacktop. Our biggest problem is that the second day after he put the driveway in we had a small rain storm; the water came down the driveway and directly into the garage. This had never happened before, as it was just a rain storm without any snowbanks. A week later we had another larger rain storm, still no snowbanks, and more water came into the garage to the extent that we had to pump the water out from the garage. We called him explained we were upset and wanted him to fix the situation. He called on [redacted] 2014 said he would take care of it. He came and tore up a section of the lawn next to the driveway. Filled it with rocks, left the lawn a mess and insisted this would solve the problem, it did nothing. When the snow came and we had snow banks our problems got even worse. We text him on [redacted] 2014 sent him photos and told him the rock well did not work and it needed to be fixed, He responded, What do you want me to do I dug a dry well and put stone in for free, you have a high water level. We have text and called him mulitle times. The last time we heard from him was [redacted] 2014, he sent a text in response to us that said, I will take care of your problem in the spring, the plants are closed. We replied with photos on [redacted]. [redacted] 2015 that he had made the problem worse and he needed to make it right. We heard nothing from him. Now anytime it rains or snows water comes towards the garage dispite our efforts of clearing the snow, by snowblowing, from over the dry well, it still comes towards the garage. To make mattters worse, the amount of water is much higher and now not only coming into the garage but coming in all the way across the garage entrance and all the way to the back of the garage on both sides. Previously it had only came in on the right side, only in the front. The way the water flows now, makes it appear that he pitched the driveway so that all water that comes into the driveway, from all sides, goes down the driveway and directly towards the garage. The water coming from the basketball hoop (left side when facing the house) back into the driveway and then around and into the garage. Never has the water ever come from the basketball hoop it always was pitched into the lawn on that side. He took a problem that we might have, once or twice a winter, some winters not at all and turned it into a problem that we have now every time we get rain. We also have four spots in the driveway that have sunk. This driveway is not level, not pitched correctly, not smooth, the seam is unacceptable, the edges are all cracking and we have a bigger problem now than we ever had before. On [redacted] 2015 we sent him a registered letter explaining how we were unhappy with everything about the driveway and considering what it looks like after one winter, we stated that we wanted our money back so we can have someone else replace his work. We have not gotten a response.Desired SettlementWe would like the entire amount back.He did not do what we hired him to do. In fact he made the situation much worse. We now have a year round problem that we have no choice but to have it removed and reinstalled. We do not trust that he knows how to fix the problem, so we have no desire to allow him to try again. The quality of the driveway is also subpar. It looks like a five year old driveway not a five month old driveway. We are surprised to see the dips down in the pavement and the cracks along the edges. This has been an extremely frustrating experience. We spent alot of money to make a situation better and its worse. So the bottom line is we would like all of our money back so we can hire someone else to do the job correctly.Business Response To whom it may concern, My name is [redacted], owner of [redacted] ans sons paving last fall when I first meet with Mr.[redacted] I told him he needed a slot draining front of the garage, because the garage is lower-then the driveway. I told him a price for the drain and a new driveway he said " it wasn't in the budget " so he decided to just do the driveway. I explain to him I'll do the best I can to pich the water I did not put it in writing that I guarantee the water was not going in the garage. Mr [redacted] had water problem before I did the driveway. Shortly he called me saying the he had water in garage so I went out with another guy and we dug out a sort of drywell to help 3-4 hour of extra labor, plus I bought stone for the drywell that I dident charge him I told him he has a high water level it takes a while to drain. ,"the house on meadow". Also I dug extra material out in front of garage and bought a special material called " Fiber mat" which is to help keep clay from coming up. I did not charge him for that. We had an exceptionally wet winter as for the edges they are the weekest point of the driveway some one had to have driven off the edge to brake. If the asphalt is faded I can't help that I don't make the asphalt.. During the process of the work I accidentally hit Mr [redacted] garage door with my bobcat I told him I would replace the door which I did it cost me [redacted] I tried to please my costumer and I gave Mr [redacted] Worth of extra work, but I am willing to send him a bill of [redacted] for the extra labor I did. I am a hard worker and I'm prod of the Bisness that I have. Mr How's knew before I started the work about the water problem he told me that he had other people tell him what he needed to do and that was to put a slot drain I paved his driveway that's what I do and that what I did. [redacted] Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)To whom it my concern,This is why we do not except [redacted]'s response to our complaint. We do not agree with his statements. This is the most insulting reply. As far as the garage door goes, that is the only truthful part of his response. We did not even bring that up in our complaint because as he said he replaced the door, as he should have. We had just installed a brand new door and opener a few months before. [redacted] had asked him if he should leave the garage door open so it wouldn't be in the way, he replied "I am very good, I won't hit it leave it closed". Well either he, his young son or his worker at some point hit the door and cracked ever panel. So yes he had to replace it, it is clear from his reply that this bothered him but that is not our fault they broke it. We do believe that the quality of the driveway did suffer because he had to pay for the door. As far as the slot drain goes. He told [redacted] that there was no guarantee that it would keep water from the garage. It seemed like a lot of extra money for something he wasn't sure would help and then we researched the slot drain. Our only problem was in the middle of winter as we stated in our complaint and to him before installing the driveway. From what we had learned the slot drain would not be much help in the winter because if it rained and then froze at night the drain would be blocked so that did not interest us. He told us pitching the driveway more towards the side yard should solve the problem. Not only did he not pitch it towards the yard he pitched more towards the garage than it had ever been. The main issue here is that we had a new driveway installed; it looks like it is about 10 years old after only 6 months, and it is pitched worse than before he touched it. No one drove on the driveway from the moment he left until he came back and removed the tape. He shouldn't have removed the tape if we couldn't drive on it. Also the edges are breaking around the entire driveway; no one drove over the edge all around the driveway that's just ridiculous. We have multiple spots inside the driveway where it has sunk and is cracking. We took a flat 4x8 and laid it across spots in the driveway and there are large spots sunken in it is so uneven and all pitched towards the garage as we explained it in the complaint. There are chunks of pavement all over the driveway like it is just breaking up. We think he used subpar products and we are suffering with the results, he may not make the products but he does buy and use them. Our house is not built on a meadow, we have no water in our yard or have we ever had any in our home. This is an attempt to make excuses for his poor workmenship. After we called him to tell him that now rain was coming into the garage he said he would fix it. We were shocked to see his solution. He dug a big hole next to the driveway filled it with rocks and that was it. Water doesn't run into it because the side of the driveway has a lip. In the winter it froze so nothing could even sink into it even when the water rose over the lip because it was solid ice, like we thought the slot drain would do. Besides not working, he tore up the side yard, left a huge mess and didn't fix it. How he can say that we would owe him money is ridiculous. We paid him in full. In our written contract it said $5500 to do the driveway that's what we gave him. It also says that if anything extra was done he would put it in writing and we would have to agree to it. He put that hole in without discussing it.I have a business in my home and my elderly mother has 24 hour care. So we have a lot of people in and out of our home. It is amazing to me that he can say he has done a good job; numerous people have commented on how bad the driveway looks. We have refrained from telling anyone his name because he left a text message with [redacted] in December saying "I will take care of your problem in the spring the plants are closed." We were trying to be fair and hoped he would redo the driveway. But he made no attempt to reply to our letter and with the way the driveway is deteriorating we no longer want him to touch it.
