Was quoted $641.00 for carpet cleaning. Was told it "could be more" by service personal. After asking several times what the total cost would be, I was charged $1,400.00 and change, at the end of the service. I never signed a thing authorizing any extra work. Had they told me what the extra charges were, I would have told them to leave. On top of this, they left numerous large stains in the carpet that were not there before they showed up.Desired SettlementResolve the stains they left, and quit their false advertising about $99.00 per room cleaning charges they advertise on the radio. Upon arrival to Mr. [redacted]'s residence a walk through was performed with the customer to cover the items that were listed on the original scheduled service. After reviewing the areas and items to be cleaned, it was found that additional items were not listed on the order that the customer requested to be cleaned during the walk through. When the crew arrived there was $665.00 of service scheduled. Additional items that did not match the scheduled items that the customer requested included an additional sofa, area rug, deodorizer of additional 2 areas, Pet Urine Treatment. After the additional items were added to the order, our Lead Technician advised the customer of the price increase to $1100.00. At that moment, the crew advised that if everything cleaned up well it was suggested that all areas and items have the protection applied. Later in the service, Mr. [redacted] advised the crew to proceed with the application of the Protection and that he would also like to purchase retail items. At the completion of the job, Mr [redacted] was emailed a receipt.I regards to the refunding of the job, we offered a refund of the unused retail items in the amount of $70. Mr [redacted] was explained in full detail of the charges during the cleaning and also again at the final presentation of the bill. The customer at the completion of the 5 hour job paid for his service in cash and did not question any of the services provided. Two days after the cleaning is when the customer called back with concern. A courtesy cleaning was scheduled for the spots that reappeared. At the time of the courtesy cleaning, an additional treatment of the Pet Urine Treatment and Stain remover was provided to the customer at no charge. An explanation of the charges showing scheduled services during the initial scheduling compared to the final invoice was provided in a paper form. Customer advised the crew at the completion of the courtesy cleaning that they were satisfied and did not want a refund for the retail items purchased. As far as advertising, we do not have a $99 per room advertisement. All Radio and Television spots created state to contact your local Stanley Steemer for your $99 special. When the customers inquire within our service area of Northern Nevada, the $99 special currently includes the cleaning of 2 Areas and a Hall for $99. Anytime the customer requests additional work that exceeds 2 areas and a hall our volume price discount goes into effect. At no point in our scheduling do we hide any prices with our customers. All of our prices are visible on our website for the customer to be provided with an interactive scheduling tool.At this time, we feel that we provided an exceptional service for all areas that were cleaned and paid for.
