Nice people until they have your moneyI paid over $for a van from themTwo months later I still have no titleCan't get my phone calls returned eitherThe only way I have been able to communicate with them is if I drive an hour and a half and show upTerrible!!!

My Name is *** ***, I am a sales person at Star Brite Auto Sales. StarBrite is a small wholesaler in South Bloomfield. We advertised a Ford Ranger door, with 83,miles on the internet for (N.A.D.Aavg retail is $5600) in Good
ConditionI knew it well, because I had been driving it
When I received a call From Mr***, in VA We discussed the truck and he said he definitely would buy it, but he wanted me to meet him half way. I told him StarBrite doesn't deliver, but, I would do that for him if he paid for gas, about $for vehicles, as I would need a ride back(over mi ea way.) There would also be a $non refundable deposit required for Starbrite. He agreed, and I processed his cardI made the sale, and handled our transactions
We drove about hours to meet with Mr*** at the designated point, he went to the truck, put his hand under the door, said "it had rust," and told his driver: Lets Go!" I've attached pictures, This is a year old vehicle, priced at wholesale, & as is. I expect it to have blemishes, it would be unreasonable not toOverall, for the year, it is in excellent condition It drove excellent, everything worked well, cold a/c too. No Dents, very Clean
Our verbal contract was broken, when he did not do what he said he would. I did not argue, or fussWe turned around and drove backHe did say he would send me $more for my troubleI haven't received it.
The next day, he called ***, & not wanting to argue, *** said he would return his $Deposit*** does not do business with people who ***'t do what they say they will That $was sent out that weekend. A few days later, Mr *** Disputed his $in charges $for gas, for our trip was taken out of my pay, because it was not authorized, I did it as a favor, at cost Not including labor for two, meals, and work missed and toll fees $320+ out of my pocket
Mr*** seemed like a nice man, I Trusted him to be a man of his word
I did what I said I would doI believe this Complaint now, from a non Customer, is completely unfounded on Unrealistic Expectations. I am the only injured party I repeatedly told him, there was no refunds.
StarBrite sells very nice cars at wholesaleWe perform a point check, and all needed maintenanceAnd still sell clean Used vehicles at WHOLESALE. That's $1000-$below avg retail!
There was no intent to harm or mislead Mr***I hope I didnt Misjudge him & this was all just a misunderstanding. I sincerely apologize for my part, I fulfilled everything I said I would when I made the sale.
Thank You. *** ***

Have you ever noticed, how some people have a memory of convenience? At Mr***s request, We Have cancelled his Sale, and breaking Company Guidelines, (no deposit refunds on “as is” cars) I refunded His $Credit card Deposit, ( ck# mailed 7/11) only to learn that, He had already cancelled his Deposit and the $ he paid *** To drive cars, over miles to deliverIs that honourable? He did not return the check, its been weeks I remember Mr *** stating then, he would send *** an additional $For her trouble, That did not make it either. In return, for his cancellation, to prevent double collections, Ive stopped Pmt on our check.
In response to his accusations: We have automatic recordings of His conversation with *** of the deal-3500., and the $credit card fees he agreed to , but now denies We are not trying to shake him down, we ***’t want anything from Mr ***. And, The only mention of rust, was, days after the sale, 7/4/15, he called starbrite, and asked me to do a “quick walk around the truck,” and I said “there was Not any rust visible from the top, but there was underneath, & on the frame.” He said “he did not mind rust underneath“ He verified the sale again to me. No one in our Company would make a guarantee, that a year old pick up, from Ohio (in the rust belt) would not have any rust, Hidden rust on a yr old truck, sold at wholesale is the Reason he gave for cancelling the sale, and to avoid any future contact, is the reason I agreed to refund his deposit, and cancel the sale. Since he has cancelled his credit cards, our business is finished*** was very distraught, at his treatment, and has resigned, she was an exlempary employee, who had access to thousands in cash, never took a cent, Came in early, left late, Outgoing, and polite, she would go out of her way (500+ miles) to help anyone who asked. I hate to see her taken advantage of. I wish Mr *** a Happy and Prosperous Life

We have already attached a copy of the “Bill of Sale,” and a copy of the “Buyers Guide” (As-Is) statement that would be all inclusive and list any maintenance we agreed to be responsible for, at the time of the sale(There is not any) Any Promised work or agreements would have been written in then.
As posted in our office, we sell all of our cars AS ISA warranty was offered and made available for $99; Ms*** chose not to purchase itThe same for an available day temporary tag, they declined to purchase one. We would have purchased the vehicle back within days, if there were a serious engine or transmission issueWe believed they would pay their balance like they promised, or we would not have let the vehicle go, signed “paid in full” when it was not!
For our good customers, we perform free labor on regular maintenance needs, i.eoil/filter changes, brakes, thermostats, etc. As we have stated a number of times now, we will happily install her a new catalytic converter, after Ms*** pays off her balanceThat offer expires Sept 11th, (months after purchase) to be fair, I will extend it another week, until Sept If Ms*** still refuses to pay of her balance ($369.00) we will no longer be able to offer to perform any maintenance. Our Contract (agreement) with her will have been completed.Thank You,

To who it may concern, I responded to the email I received by rejecting the businesses response to my complaint, but I missed where to type additional information on the caseStar Brite Auto Sales has continually lied and their response was full of untruthsThe vehicle they sold me was sold with no catalytic converter which is illegal anywhere in the United States, even if they took it off or not themselvesRichard had every opportunity to count every dime of the money in question before he signed the bill of sale and obviously he failed to count all of itI was sure all the money was thereHe originally told me it was now he has changed it to Don was not present at any time that I was aware of and my mother had left the parking lot in her own car so he did not stop "US", he stopped meI couldn't believe the money was not all there and thought I dropped some of it, he caught me by surpriseWhy would he sign the bill of sale "paid in full in cash" if it were not all there? I rescheduled one appointment, not I took the opportunity to get legal advice from my attorney, and I did not threaten legal actionI have a right to adviceI owe them nothing and I was threatened with no service if I did not produce the money they claim I was shortRichard could have taken the money and told me I was shortMy attorney advised me has the burden of proof since he signed the bill of saleWhich he has not provenI at no time seen Don in the office to witness him count any money, he wasn't in the office when were completing our paperworkThe car has multiple costly issues and he has refused to perform the promised service and parts replacementI feel I am being extorted for more money and I received a less than suitable vehicle for the money I paid! I am very offended by the way my mother was spoken by Don, he was rude and inconsiderate toward our issue with the vehicle they sold meShe did not threaten anyone with legal action but we did have to involve the Attorney Generals office due the fact Richard failed to file the tile with the county and my tags were fictitiousI would like the parts replaced as they promised without anymore cost to meI don't feel I owe them anymore moneyI have reported them to the Attorney Generals office due to the illegal situation with the converterThank you,

I was sold a vehicle illegally regardless of any other circumstancesDon admitted on the phone he could not sell a car without a catalytic converter It is and always has been illegal no matter if you tampered with it or not!!!! I still don't understand how Star Bite Auto can lie and change the original amount of money are trying to extort from me in the first placeit started at and now it is How did they come to this conclusion? If they attached a copy of the bill off sale then it clearly shows at the bottom written and initialed by Richard, "PAID IN FULL IN CASH" Any mistakes made were on their part, its not my fault Star Brite operates a dishonest business!

Hello, my name is Richard S***; I sold the Escape to Ms*** ***
On 6/11/2015. The Vehicle was sold on consignment It was a 4wd, with approximately 106,miles Starbrite is a family-owned business that has severed this community for twenty two years, we offer
quality used vehicles to the public at wholesale pricesYou don’t stay in business as long as we have without having a good reputation with your customers and the community After picking up the Escape and driving it twice, we assume that it had been inspected by a mechanic or family memberMs*** *** did purchase the vehicle “AS IS.” No Warranty Although we offer aftermarket service contracts to purchase, *** declined Don came in as a witness, as she was signing the paperwork. She handed over a white envelope; and said, it contained $The money was bank wrapped, so it looked correctAs they were getting ready to leave our lot; I counted the money, and discovered that the envelope was short $
I caught the car before they left (*** and her mother) and informed them of the shortage *** told us that the money had been at her home since January! With that being said she said she might have removed some of the money sometime during that gap and forgot to replace it*** said that her dad passes this area every day to go to work, and she would have him drop of the money on Monday June 17thTo this day, the $has not been paid.
Several days later, the payoff still hadn’t materialized, the mother (who was doing all of the fussing, and threatening with the attorneys etc.) brought to our attention that the vehicle was missing the catalytic converter, although we did not remove the converter, and are not responsible to replace itI offered to replace the converter since they were good customers, at no charge! We scheduled the car inl after their next promise to pay it off, which didn’t happen again
They cancelled two appointments we set up for them, and did not bring the payment. Later, they said no agreement for payoff was ever made, and complained to the Attorney General, I suppose to attempt to pressure us into free service. Don, to avoid having to file a legal claim, had me just send them their title, with no lien attached
As to replacing her converter, we will still gladly replace it; all that we ask is she pay the remaining balance first, that we both know is truly owed. Star Brite offers free labor on repairs to our customers for days, to our good customers forever

First and foremost, I believe I am responding to Ms[redacted]’s motherMs[redacted] keeps saying that Don told her “Dealers could not sell a car without a catalytic converter“ That is not correctIt is not illegal to sell a car without a catalytic converter, or without an engine for that matterDealers are not required to; or obligated to restore emissions on a vehicle, especially on cars over years and more than 100,milesIn this instance, as with many emissions, the performance of the vehicle would not sufferThe car will perform the purpose for which it was intendedIf Ms[redacted] would kindly refer to her purchase order, she would see where the $is coming fromIf she gives us an envelope with $in it and the remaining cost of the vehicle is $
Balance still due is $
Thank you,
?

everything  both parties said is a LIE.He told me he would send me the additional $200,00 owed me. There was never any discussion on gas or expenses, the conservation bough up  from woman said  sometimes as a courtesy they will come halfway, nothing said about MONEY. Was told vehicle had no rust by 3 people, rust on bottom of all 4 doors. one door so bad that soon it will ne replaced, many mor things wrong. I have a witness with me for complete houstny. Said would send $200.00 back tnis past Monday...Why do people tell outright LIES   I would like a phone number with your company where we can talk on phone about this matter   thank you

First and foremost, I believe I am responding to Ms. [redacted]’s mother. Ms. [redacted] keeps saying that Don told her “Dealers could not sell a car without a catalytic converter. “ That is not correct. It is not illegal to sell a car without a catalytic converter, or without an engine for that matter. Dealers are not required to; or obligated to restore emissions on a vehicle, especially on cars over 10 years and more than 100,000 miles. In this instance, as with many emissions, the performance of the vehicle would not suffer. The car will perform the purpose for which it was intended. If Ms. [redacted] would kindly refer to her purchase order, she would see where the $369.00 is coming from. If she gives us an envelope with $3800.00 in it and the remaining cost of the vehicle is $4169.56.
Balance still due is $369.56.
Thank you,
