I had a slate roof that gave me problems for 15yrsFinally decided to have it replaced with shingles and used Star roofing since they did some patch work for me through the yearsI have nothing bad to say at all about their work or their follow up on everything from clean up to the roof work that was doneThe guys worked hard for two days and also dealing with some rain the last dayThe foreman was right on top of any issues that needed to be addressed at the time and even after they left for the dayThey were available when neededI would recommend them to anyone
Upon receipt of the [redacted] complaint, I reviewed the file and all of our internal notes and records. It appeared there where some inconsistencies between our records and the complaint letter. I sent the attached letter and met Mrs. [redacted] at the house about a week later. I inspected the...
area that they were experiencing problems with from the roof top and in the attic space. The roof and chimney detail appeared to be sold and the original installation flawless. The chimney has been worked on by the customer and I could not see any visible defects.
As we wanted to do everything we could to satisfy the customer, I had our repair crew, remove all the roofing around the chimney, re-flash it and install new Ice and Water Leak Barrier. The repair crew did not find any issue with the original installation. When we were securing the new metal to the chimney water came out from inside the bricks. I advised Mrs. [redacted] that it is possible that water was getting in from the cap of the chimney.
We are confident the roof and flashing are solid and watertight and I can find no evidence that there were any workmanship issues with the original installation.
I advised the customers to call me when it is raining and I will reinspect this issue from inside the attic space.
