Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:[redacted]'s response to Scott S[redacted]'s at Star Tech Appliance claim. 1) I had taken my fridge out and it was stored in the garage for about a week. 2) The fridge was cooling in fact, the freezer was fine and the fridge part would freeze my food. 3) My fridge was free from water when I put it in the garage. 4) Scott S[redacted], Tech at Star Tech Appliance, stated that I needed to have the circuit board replaced and when the other repairman [redacted] from [redacted] company saw the old circuit board that was removed by Scott S[redacted], he said that there was nothing wrong with the original circuit board. In fact, [redacted] put the original back on. The circuit board that [redacted] put back in had nothing wrong with it whatsoever and it works fine. 5) Scott S[redacted] stated that he called me about the cost effectiveness of replacing the unit (fridge). He claims that he told me to just throw the unit away and buy a new one. I don't want to call Scott a liar, but he never talked to me about the cost. 6) Scott claims that he had my fridge for about a month and that it was cooling and freezing properly. Yet, when I picked it up and brought it home and plugged it in...thinking that it was fixed, I put food in it. By the next morning my vegetables were frozen. Which is the exact same problem that I had with it before I took it to Scott's shop. 7) Scott claims that he called me more than once and told me the unit was ready for pickup. He claims that I told him I didn't have the money to give him. I never told him that. What I told him was that I would be by to pick it up later. 8) Scott stated that he helped me load the fridge in the truck because I was elderly and had no help. I feel he should have been helping me all along. 9) Scott stated that I called him back a few weeks later. In reality, it was two days after I picked it up from his shop. 10) When I called Scott to tell him that it wasn't working properly, it was the same issue as when I took it in the first time. He advised me to bring it back to his shop. Why would I do that if it wasn't fixed right the first time? Instead, I called a different repair shop. I called [redacted] company and they fixed the fridge right. Now it is working fine. They came out to the house too and only charged me $217.07 compared to what Scott charged me...approximately $500. Scott didn't do a good job for what he charged me. 11). I trusted him to fix my fridge and that is why I took it to him. Why is he advertising himself as an Appliance repairman when he doesn't fix appliances? He ripped me off by overcharging me for something he didn't repair! 12) Scott stated that he doesn't owe me a refund. I think he does. He didn't fix my fridge and charged me double for something he did not repair.I hope that we can come to some kind of agreement in this.[redacted]

To all whom this matter concerns: Hello my name is Scott S[redacted] I am the owner and main technician at Star Tech Appliance. Mr. [redacted] had a problem with his refrigerator, he had told me this unit had been outside for a few months and he wanted us to see if we could fix it. When the unit...

arrived at our shop it wasn't cooling, it had a bad main PCB and start relay (the customer has the old parts we replaced), also it had a cracked water line and bad water valve all due to possibly sitting outside in the elements. We diagnosed the problem and called Mr. [redacted] with the issues and advised him not to repair the unit with how pricey the cost would be, it would've been more beneficial to just replace with a new unit. He advised us to proceed with the repair of the unit anyways and asked if he could pay us later, which was not a problem. We repaired the unit and we had the fridge here at our shop for the next month running and working with no problems at all unit was cooling and freezing properly. We called Mr. [redacted] and told him his unit was repaired and ready to be picked up, his reply to us was something along the lines of he did not have the money to cover the repair at this time if we could hold the unit for him. Of course it wasn't a problem we unplugged the unit and set aside and stored. We again 4 weeks later called him to see when the unit would be picked up, he at this time again did not have the amount needed to cover the repair. The unit was still sitting in our shop idle waiting for him, the unit was not held here against any prejudice, and just needed payment for repairs before unit left our possession. We had called a few more times throughout the weeks with no response, we left voice mails and finally we got a hold of him. We asked him to please come get his unit and he finally was able to. We helped him load the unit into his truck as he was elderly and had no help, the unit left our shop in working condition. A few weeks later he called us to say it was freezing in the lower fridge area which wasn't what was happening when we got the unit in the first place, as the unit had absolutely no cooling, so this was a totally different issue. We advised him to bring it back as we cannot travel to his location that is why the unit was brought here to begin with, and we can take a look at it again. At this time the customer chose to delay bringing back the unit. My company worked with Mr. [redacted] on storing his unit here. This should be his own complaint, as far as another company going out to repair, yes he did find an issue but way after the unit left our shop in working condition. Anything can break down at any time, we ran this unit like I said for a month with it working perfectly fine. At this time we do not feel responsible for a fan motor that went out it is possible another issue will arise, will he be blaming our company for that or the other company that installed a fan motor.. In conclusion I Scott S[redacted] fully swear to all concerned Mr. [redacted]'s refrigerator was not running upon arriving at my shop but was repaired and in working condition when he chose to finally pick it up. We never held the unit against him to be picked up, he was told payment was due when the unit was ready for pick up. I do not feel I owe any refund to Mr. [redacted]. Thank You, Scott S[redacted] (owner)
