I purchased four winter tires from this business last winter - today when I went in to have my car saftey inspected at another business it failed due to my winter tires being bald - after only year my tires which I paid close to $for were no goodwhen I called the company to complain the owner hung up on me and told me I needed a lesson on how to deal with companies when complaining - I would never do business with a company who talks to people this way or sells them tires ***

As a young female who admittedly doesn't know a lot about cars, it can be intimidating to make car related purchase, be it knowing what parts to purchase or selecting new winter tires. On January 5th I walked into star tire with the sole purpose of purchasing a couple of winter tires. On file, I had already prearranged a quote for four tires, simply to have an idea what it would cost me. Upon my arrival at the shop, I already had winter tires on my car, two of which were surely fit for at least the remainder of this winter, if not next. When explaining my situation to [redacted], I told him that I think two would cut it, however it would be greatly appreciated if he could take a peek at them to ensure that he agreed. Yes, I understand there's a wear line and this is something I can tell for myself to an extent, however as I was already there I felt as though it didn't hurt to have an "expert opinion". He took my car into the shop to check it and from there he came out and told me that although I could get away with two, I should really do four. I said okay maybe I'll do that then. After thinking for a moment, I decided that as a university student it was in my best interest to spare the money where I could, and in recalling the condition in which my tires were when I checked them the previous evening, I walked over to the employee and stated my thoughts. I told him that since it is January and I am selling my car at the end of winter, I would be fine with two new tires. Suddenly being able to make do with two tires went from none of my tires being any good. It then became very obvious that I didn't really have a say in the matter. I paid for my tires in full and thanked them for getting the job done quickly (this one the only good part of my experience), however I had one last request. I asked to have my two best "old" tires placed in my trunk. When the man who changed my tires came in to give me my keys, [redacted] said "She wants the best two of her old tires put in her trunk I guess, even though none of them are any good." The tone was [redacted]. So much so that the other employee standing at the desk chimed in "she may just want to have a couple spares," and smiled at me, likely sensing my discomfort. Perhaps this tone came from his wish to not return the tires, as he likely didn't want me to see the good condition (which I already knew they were in).I got my tires back and [redacted]. It is extremely disappointing and in fact degrading that as a young women a business like this would try to take advantage of my business, rather than helping me and doing what was in my best interest to create a return customer.
