On December 7th I received a text from Mrs [redacted] complaining that her furnace was not working, I called and talked to Mr [redacted] and explained to him that that since the furnace was installed on 8/25/that the labor portion of his warranty was expired (year labor) but that there was a parts warranty that was valid for years from the date of installI walked Mr [redacted] though the common steps that solve most issues ie: dirty filters, switch turned off, blown fuse. These steps did not resolve the issue.I asked Mr [redacted] if there was a blinking light on the lower portion of the furnaceHe replied that there was, and according to the manual it was a furnace ignition problem, I told him I could come out for $for the trip charge and clean a sensor or I could try to save him the cost by instructing him how to do it, He chose to try the repairs himself. On December 8th I was again contacted by Mrs [redacted] stating that her furnace did not work, I agreed to come out to the house to look at the problem. When I got to the house Mr [redacted] took me to the furnace, at which point I again told him that there would be a $trip charge due to the labor portion of the warranty being expiredAfter diagnosing the problem I explained that this may be a step process to solve the issue, again I explained that there would be a $charge for the labor, but that there would be no charge for any needed parts. As I started the first step in the repair process Mrs [redacted] came downstairs and asked if I would forgive the trip charge, I told her that while I did emphasize with her about the furnace having issues months after install, that I could not work for free, after asking several more times for free labor she then demanded that I leave her houseShe then left and went upstairsI was at the point that the first step to fixing the issue was complete and I started the furnace, it ran trouble free for minutes, so I packed up my tools and leftAs I left I let Mrs [redacted] know that I would be sending an invoice and it was her choice whether to pay it or not.On my way home I received a text from Mrs [redacted] stating that she would like to work this out before reporting me to the Revdex.comAt this time I called Mrs [redacted] and let her know that there would be no $charge for the visitShe agreed that the matter was concluded and that everything was OK.On December I received a text from Mrs [redacted] stating that her furnace had shut down againI was out of town signing for our new home, but I asked Mrs [redacted] if she had her warranty information, she stated that she did notI found and forwarded the email containing the information needed to receive warranty work from any local Carrier dealer, at this time I also informed Mrs [redacted] that I was relocating to the west side of the state and that this would be a good opportunity to find a local contractorAfter talking to Mrs ***, Mr [redacted] then called to ask me what was going on, I let him know that I was out of town signing on a new house and would not be back in town until December 14th or 15th and that I did not want them to not have a working furnaceI explained that there was a warranty on the parts and any local Carrier furnace company would honor the warrantyI also stated that if he wanted to wait until I came back in town, I would come over to work on the furnace. On December 16th I received an email from Mrs [redacted] thanking me for sending the warranty information to her, but that she would be reporting me to the Revdex.com anywayShe also stated that she was able to find a local company that would honor the warranty and not charge her for the labor. On December I received a text from Mrs [redacted] stating that there was now a $charge from the second heating company that she used, and that she would have no heat untilMondayand that she would be adding this to the Revdex.com report she had filed. To sum up, Mrs [redacted] removed me from her house before I could complete the repairs to her furnace, I did not charge her for the visit that I made, I helped her with the warranty information when I was out of town, and I offered to Mr [redacted] to come out to the house when I was back in town.I have acted in good faith with this customer, and I do not think that there is anything owed to Mrs ***Even after the threats of going to the Revdex.com I still helped her as much as I possibly could, and at this point I will no longer be able to provide any services to the ***'s.As far as the furnace being a "bad product" This was a revised model of this particular furnace and the issue that Mrs [redacted] is having was not known at the time of installation
