Starfire Jewelry, Inc.

In July of 2012 my boyfriend got me a necklace with a key pendent on a 16-inch sterling silver chain. Unfortunately, just this past month, July 2013, the chain to my precious necklace broke. My boyfriend took it to get repaired at Starfire Jewelry in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. After almost a week Starfire Jewelry called my boyfriend to say that my necklace was repaired and ready to pick up. When he brought it to me before I even put in on I felt the chain was thinner and lighter. Once I tried it on I realized that my chain was now significantly longer. We then took it back to Starfire Jewelry to confront them about this problem. The first time we went back to Starfire jewelry it was just my boyfriend and I and an employee was very quick to say that there is no explanation for it to be longer. The second time we visited my boyfriend and I bought my mom with hopes to make more progress. This time we came armed with a picture of myself wearing my necklace showing where it used to lay and also the original receipt showing the chain was in fact bought as 16 inches. After again simply stating it was longer and showing my picture to compare to how it lays now, we then asked to have it measured. To this employees surprise the chain now measured at 21 inches, that is 5-inch increase to what my chain was before it came into Stafire Jewelry. After this development we were told to come in the next day to speak with the owners. The third time we went to Starfire Jewelry it was just my mom and I. We again described our situation showing both my picture and the original receipt and all they had to say was, “that is the chain your boyfriend brought in”. We continued to ask how a 16-inch chain changes into a 21-inch chain, but they couldn’t answer this for us. Starefire Jewelry just continued to say that is was fixed and nothing else was done to it. They did shorten my necklace for me, free of charge, but the bottom line is after a stream of, “that is the chain that your boyfriend bought in”, and with no undeniable proof that it wasn’t I had to walk out of Starfire Jewelry with a chain that I know wasn’t mine.
