I have been a State Farm policy holder for thirty year averaging one minor claim per decadeIf this agency had jumped as quickly to do their jobs - understand a customer's needs and help her understand options, as Kelley had quickly jumped to unload me on another agent - then she would have earned the decade of commission she made off of me Where would you expect to turn first for insurance advice – your decades-long insurance agent, right? I recently asked questions to understand the start date of our homeowners policy and potential overlap of an umbrella policy vs contractor’s insuranceI asked Kelley A [redacted] and Cheri D [redacted] to speak to me in everyday language rather than industry jargonI paid them to be the experts, so I do not have to beThey told me I needed another insurance policy but did not bother to advise how to obtain that insurance (they don’t sell it)When I asked more questions, they took the easy path and told me I did not need it– but could not articulate basic criteria for determining the needWhen I mentioned their inconsistent communication, the immediate and persistent response was that the confusion was all me - they denied they have room for improvement The raison d etre underlying their paychecks is consumer peace of mindFrankly, fear is profitableMy questions are in fact core to the businessBut Kelly and Cheri treated me as if my questions were annoying Businesses often prefer easy customers who don’t ask a lot of questionsAll consumers benefit from a few inquisitive analytical customersIf Kelly and Cheri don’t want to be in the business of consumer peace of mind, if they don’t properly represent State Farm’s identity, then I suggest you invite each to find another jobThe worst part – State Farm Corporate’s response – after three decades of low-maintenance premiums- was entirely insufficient State Farm has lost my business, AND has turned me from a promotor into a strident detractor
