Company promised us a job and price to pave our driveway. We signed a contract. They came and tore up our driveway end of May. They said they wouldn’t complete the job until we paid in full. We paid in full June 7 every week we were texting or calling asking when they would be here to finish our driveway ...they would always say the next day ...never showed up. tried to text him and call him today, an automated message said they blocked my number and would not except my calls. Work still has not been done and I have no way to contact him now that he blocked my number.

Anthony won't admit to it but he is overwhelmed with work. His own family members agree as well. He has no organization or customer service skills. He leaves a mess behind on newly paved streets that the Perinton Highway Department performed last year.

State of the Art Paving is probably the worst run business I have ever encountered. I should have known better from the beginning as so many red flags were thrown, but alas, I picked Anthony to pave my driveway and parking area. When we first met, he spent more time on his phone trying to buy equipment than he did interacting with me, the customer. I was asked what I wanted to pay for the job, a totally ridiculous question. My response was give me your best price, but don't kill yourself on it as I want a quality job. We agreed on a price, was told it "would look like glass" and he would have it staked out by the utility company prior to any digging in the next couple days. I asked and was told that he did all the work in-house and didn't sub-contract the work out. I asked for a contract in writing and received a hand written proposal asking for 50% down payment. We agreed I would pay him 50% the day he started the tear-out of the existing driveway with the balance due upon completion. I was eager to have the work done and Anthony promised it would be done in a matter of days. Over a week passes and no word from Anthony. I call his phone and as it was from then on, his voice mail box is full and can't accept messages. This was the case henceforth, his phone couldn't accept calls/voice messages, so I was left with sending text messages. I get a message he'll start Tuesday, May 19 which surprises me as no one came from the utility company to do a stake-out. I was then told he would be there Wednesday morning, early. No one shows, I reach out via text and get a response that he'd be there around noon. I had to get to an appointment and upon my return there was a truck full of stone with a polite driver who had no idea who State of the Art Paving was. Then a guy with a Bobcat and crew came about an hour later and had to ask me what he was supposed to do. He obviously was a sub-contractor and didn't have any clear direction from Anthony. I could not get Anthony on his phone so Adam, the sub, and I discussed the job and he started the work. Still no sign of Anthony. Adam had to return the next day to complete the tear-out and I gave him a check made out to State of the Art Paving as Anthony requested. The next day Anthony wants me to pay his sub directly, which I am not comfortable at all doing. Suffice it to say, I ended up taking back my initial check from Adam and writing him a check for the 50% on the condition the job would be completed and Anthony would stay true to his word. Anthony insisted he'd be out and pave the drive within a couple days. Another week passes and still no sign of Anthony, no call, no text. after repeated attempts to get a commitment as to when I'd get the paving done, his only response is "long as it is hard". I responded that I was not the paving contractor nor the one to make that decision. Anthony responds,"I was gonna let it sit for 2 weeks" . This was the first I ever heard anything but, I'll be out tomorrow, etc. Anthony said he'd come out the next day and check on the driveway, I waited all day, but he never showed nor contacted me. This was on Tuesday, then he sends a text saying "will be done by Thursday", surprise, that never happens. I text him early in the morning asking when I should expect the crew and all I get is a text saying "call you soon" at 10:20am. Call never happens. Then I get a text on Saturday saying "sorry for the delay I will get to your driveway by monday or Tuesday". Both Monday and Tuesday mornings I ask when I should expect the crew, both with no response. I text him Wednesday asking for Anthony to call me and I receive a text, "we're scheduling it", when asked when, he responds a day later "almost ready". Ok, so I'm sure anyone who is still following this is totally bored. the same song and dance goes on for weeks with no sign of Anthony. I ended up hiring another contractor to do the job. I had to pay more money, but I had a good job done and didn't have to deal with a dishonest no-show, so called "business" State of the Art Paving. Lesson learned, go with your gut feeling and listen to your wife's advice! Oh, and don't waste a second of your time with Anthony or State of the Art Paving.
