Staten Island Toyota Reviews (4)

Review: On March **, 2014, I took my 2012 Mazda 5 to the service shop because there was a check engine light on in my vehicle. I told the service rep [redacted], that I wanted them to check the engine light, resolve whatever issues I had that was causing the check engine light to come on and give the vehicle a car inspection. The service adviser told me my car was up for a 30 mile diagnostic check. I told him I did not want them to perform the 30k mile check. I just wanted them to check the engine light and I needed a car inspection. The service rep agreed and took the car. I signed the work order which clearly states three items: 1. Check engine light, 2. ** state inspection, 3. diagnostic fee.

A few hours later, the sales rep called me and told me the cost will be $816. When I asked him why is it so high, he said they will need to replace the thermostat and filters. I told him my car had a new thermostat and I didn't need a replacement. He said the thermostat I had was not a Mazda approved and this is the only way they can clear the check engine light. I told him not to perform the work and I will pick up my car and pay the diagnostic fee. The service rep became very upset and practically bullied me into having this procedure done. Since I needed the car for work, I agreed.

The next day, I went to pick up my car and was charged $880. This included services that I did not agreed on: (1.) 15000 mile diagnostic check plus parts and labor - a total of ( $275.95.00). They also performed a wheel alignment which I didn't agreed on: $99.95.Desired Settlement: This is unacceptable and because of this, I am late on my rent. I am asking for a refund on the services that I did not agree on.

Review: I purchased my vehicle, Toyota Rav 4, on July *, 2003. Last week I found out that I needed a new transmission. My vehicle only has 87,000 miles on it. After researching on the web, I found an article that stated that Toyota was aware of this defect and extended the 60 month warranty to 10 years on the Rav4 2001-2003 models. However, this was not made known to the owners in any type of written or verbal communication. I contacted both the Staten Island Toyota dealership (Manfredi) and then Corporate Toyota. I was told by both parties that because I purchased the car on 7/*/03 and the current date was 7/**/13, I was over the extended warranty by 18 days. My vehicle is now being serviced by an Aamco Transmission Specialist and will cost upwards from $2,300. I feel it is completely unprofessional and extremely bad business judgement that Toyota is not making good on this defect, especially since they have been aware of it for the past four years. A recall should have occurred on these models, but to date, this has not occurred.Desired Settlement: I feel that I should be reimbursed for all costs associated with the repair of the transmission in my 2003 Toyota Rav 4. Any car that has mileage of only 87,000 should never need to have a transmission replaced.

Response:

this unit was inspected by Toyota motor company, and came to the conclusion that diesel fuel was used causing the issues with his Prius. however after some further investigation by the clients own insurance company they came to the same conclusion and paid to have his Prius repaired , for this reason we believe [redacted] has been made whole. and this case will be considered closed. [redacted] may reach out to us in the future and we will continue to give [redacted] great service

Review: I leased a New 2015 Toyota Sienna on 01/**/2015. I was given a 20 day temporary registration, a day before the temporary expired I called to find out the status and have been calling since then. it is now 04/**/2015 and I still don't have the registration to my car. no one picks up calls. they send me to a [redacted] who is never in and the managers say someone will call you and my phone is never called.

This is unacceptable for a TOYOTA dealership to be this way...Desired Settlement: No outcome still waiting with my car unable to be driven due to the fact that I have no registration.
