Statile & Todd Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: statile & todd is a landscaping company hired late 2013 to provide landscaping product and services in spring of 2014. work was performed late in june of 2014 at the height of the summer heat. that day I was told that I needed to have my irrigation system enhanced to ensure appropriate irrigation. statile & todd was hired to intstall their recommended drip irrigation system immediately, as my regular underground sprinkler company was backed up and could not get to me. manual irrigation was done by myself daily and by a representative of statile & todd for several days until s&t completed their work. work was not as represented, as I "did not need drip except at the three trees, and the existing system covered the other product adequately" the affected zones were run twice a day to keep new materials wet. at the same time, an issue developed in another zone of my irrigation system stopped functioning properly. I questioned s&t about this, and they told me that they had nothing to do with it. (when my regular ug sprinkler company investigated, they found that whomever transplanted a shrub (it was s&t) had cut an underground pipe directly under the shrub where water was leaking) s&t, insulted, denied that they, as professionals, could do such a thing.

many of the shrubs died, obvious by august of 2014. s&t was made aware that replacements would be required in spring. s&t sent numerous emails indicating that the job would be done, and never delivered. now, again insulted that weeks after promising performance, I emailed that their failure to perform was turning into a joke, now they are doubly insulted and refusing warranty, now indicating that I did not live up to the terms of the contract. all correspondence saved in email thread.Desired Settlement: I no longer wish to deal with them. I would like a refund as charged for dead material and labor

Business

Response:

This is been a very uneventful experience in 45 years of being in business. Fortunately, all our transactions are documented and I’ll be able to bring clarity to this matter. I know the Revdex.com is concerned about business practices; however, I must say that during the review of the attached documents, it’s clear that we’ve always handle ourselves in a professional manner and we endured endless aggression from this client. In late 2013 our firm was contact for a design of a front planting. This design was referred to an outside partner design firm. Towards the middle of February 2014, our firm provided the client a proposal for the specified design, please see attached. The date of origin is in the upper left hand corner. As you’ll see on page 3, we were not contracted until the beginning of April. At that time, we started the process of expediting the plant material. A main component of the job and the first step was the installation of 3 Specimen Linden. Due to the severity of 2014 winter and Spring digging difficulties, we did not receive the trees until mid-May. In an attached email, the client was notified on 5/30 that their project would begin the following week. Due to rain the following week, the project started on 6/10/14. The planting of the project was completed in 3 day and we returned on 6/20 to install the mulch after the irrigation was completed. As for the irrigation, the original proposal is noted that any new irrigation or repairs will be billed at time and material and an approximate cost can be given after the system is turned on. In an email on 6/13, please see the attached thread, I stated that we would return the complete the project after his irrigation company completed the work. After not hearing from the client, I stated in an email on 6/17 that I was very concerned about the new planting and lack of coverage. I also stated that irrigation systems are only supplemental to rain fall and since we had not rain with high temperatures, the plantings could be at risk. I also stated in the email thatour guarantee policy clearly states that we will not warranty plant material that dies due to lack of water. In another attached email, the client states on 6/17 that he was not given enough notice that additions to the system were needed and that he was arranging the work to be completed. The thread continues to show that we provided a price for us to complete the necessary system changes. As you can see after the client told us his company could not complete the work on 6/17, I promptly scheduled the work so that we can return and finish mulching to project on 6/20. Finally, in another attached email, I clearlydefine the work completed to the irrigation system. After the shrubs in dispute died, in October 2014 we provided the client a proposal for new plantings and agreed to credit the shrubs in full. At that time the decided that not to move forward with since their plant selection were against our recommendations due to external factors and we stated that a guarantee would not be extended. In April 2015, the client asked for the skip laurel to be replaced. I promptly ordered the material and was waiting for schedule availability, email is attached. As you can see the client became increasingly aggressive. The client made continued threats to contact his attorney; we followed with him and his attorney numerous times and received no response. Once he submitted this exaggerated claim to the Revdex.com and defaming posts to our company page, I weighed the options and decided my name is worth more to me than a few shrubs. As you can see by the attached pictures, all the shrubs were replaced and their promise to remove the complaint to the Revdex.com was never fulfilled. Please let me know the next stage of this complaint. We do take pride in the project we deliver and our name and reputation built our business over the past 45 years. I do hope this audacious claim does not have an effect on our A+ Revdex.com rating.Thank youPS. I have more filed to add but am limited to 4 attachments.

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that the explanation is oversimplified and less than the truth, but the result is what I needed to resolve the matter. So that neither of us wastes more time on this unfortunate and unethical handling of this matter, this resolution is satisfactory to me. Let the buyer beware. Thank you for your service. You were integral to the resolution of this matter.

Sincerely,
