Staunton Motors Reviews (1)

Review: After having the vehicle less than 500 miles, the head gasket blew. The vehicle is now totaled. We have a vehicle payment until October 2014 and are stranded until then. Staunton Motors should be responsible for the resolution to this issue, as this problem was not disclosed prior to the sale. The sales business is not being honest and ultimately should be shut down for misleading customers on the conditions of vehicles.Desired Settlement: Loan waived and down payment refunded.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The reason I purchased the vehicle was because I was initially told by the salesman that he bought the car from a dealership. Post our head gasket blown, the salesman then changed his story and told us he purchased the vehicle from an auction. If the salesman was honest in the beginning, I would have declined from purchasing the vehicle completely. We had test drove the vehicle twice before purchasing, and nothing overheated then. I had declined the three month warranty because I did not have sufficient answers to questions I had about the warranty and company selling the warranty. The salesman advised we needed to make a warranty decision on the spot of purchase. I did not feel comfortable to base my purchase decision on no other information but price and what parts would be covered only. No pamphlet or brochure was offered on this third party company who I would be doing my business with. The vehicle immediately started overheating and we took it to a mechanic for diagnosis. The water pump was replaced, but the shop stated the head gasket is very soon to blow. The mechanic asked when we purchased the vehicle, and stated the dealership had to have known about the head gasket issue. That was the first expert advise we received since owning the vehicle. Trying to save money, the head gasket shortly blew after the water pump was replaced. We had the vehicle only serviced once and diagnosed twice. We went to discuss the issue with the salesman and went on to tell us that he recently sold a vehicle to a woman who had the timing belt fail on her 3 weeks after selling her the vehicle. There is a trend to this dishonesty of "excellent condition". I was trying to negotiate with the salesman after the head gasket blew. I asked the salesman personally to call his mechanic as I sat there trying to resolve the issue and since the vehicle is not drivable, I advised I already paid $85 to have the vehicle towed once, I would be willing to have your mechanic look at the vehicle if you are willing to pay for the vehicle to be towed again. The salesman declined. I asked if his mechanic works on Morning Star engines because the 7 out of 9 shops I called to get quotes on the head gasket have declined because they do not do work on Morning Star engines. The salesman did not give me a direct answer as to if his mechanic could help us. I would not have paid for the vehicle to be towed again for the salesman's mechanic to "look" at the vehicle if he is unable to perform the work.During our purchase, the salesman strongly advised that a financial institution should be contacting us from an unknown number in the next few days during the daytime. I advised that would be a problem with my job. The salesman then asked if I was available after 5pm for them to contact me. I complied; but I do not know of any financial institution open past 5pm and would call from an unknown number to discuss financial information. Out of the 3 months of taking ownership of the vehicle, I have only received 1 statement from the financial institution for a bill. We have submitted all our payments on time only by knowing that the salesman gave us the financial institution's address to give to the insurance company to add the lienholder to our policy. That is the only way we have been fortunate enough to make our payments. The processing of the my address was incorrect after purchasing the vehicle as well. I had to spend my first few days with the salesman correcting the errors on the application.I request the loan to be forgiven and the down payment that we paid to be refunded. Please help our situation.
