Ok, unlike Steel Shield, I can admit I can make a mistake. If they say I do in fact have the Z Bar I will take their word. I obviously don't know what they mean by Z Bar and how it is applied. But they now have to admit I did not in fact ruin the Z Bar like they alleged in their first response, (which they never viewed in person) and I did In fact remove the complete door with a screwdriver. They still have not come to inspect the door so I can prove to them once and for all I am not lying. and I still wonder what the white metal door parts were on the installers truck But any answer would now just be speculation. The fact remains that their installation did not live up to their own standards and why they won't simply come to look at the door makes me believe they don't want to know the truth. The installer placed it on the outside of the frame with 2 1/2 " wood screws and then covered them with the covering flat metal and this is no lie. I don't know why I have to keep saying it. I am not a liar and I feel no ill will, I simply want them to know the truth. They are welcome to come over any time to look at the door. They will see it is not damaged in any way and find that I am telling the truth. Hopefully they will.

Regards,

Gentlemen:

I have reviewed Mr. [redacted] most recent complaint regarding the quality of our workmanship..As in the previous complaint which had been dismissed after reviewing the response, this one also bears no merit. Mr. [redacted] is alleging that this company did not provide him with the "Z Bars" required for the proper installation of his security door.

Yesterday Mr. [redacted] was kind enough to stop by our office and hand carry a letter he had just written to us along with two photos of his security door which was on his previous home before he removed it and installed it on his new home. I have attached his letter and the two photos to this response for your reference.

The photos clearly show the horizontal "Z-Bar" located above the closer and wind chain as well as the vertical "Z-Bar" running down the left side of his door when looking at it from the outside. The "Z-Bars" contain a brown felt weatherstripping which is inserted into a channel in the "Z-Bar" to seal the door from the elements and critters.

I am at a loss as to why Mr. [redacted] would file a complaint alleging he had not received his "Z-Bars" with his door and with the same letter provide us with pictures of the "Z-bars that we installed.

Mr. [redacted] obviously does not understand the installation process or the components that are used for an installation.

Once again I welcome your review of my response.. Unfortunately, I will not be able to provide Mr. [redacted] with the apology he is requesting since all of his allegations are unfounded...

Respectfully,

Review: I am the guy who filed a previous complaint 12/11/2012. I recently saw the installer who improperly installed my door and wondered why I had not heard from the Revdex.com about my complaint. I went to the Revdex.com site to find that there was a response from the business that made me out to be a liar, fool and scammer. I never received a letter from the Revdex.com or any further contact from the business after the initial call. After thinking about my next move and contemplating the possibility of retaliation from the business I feel I must set the record straight. The owner called me and asked me about the invoice he couldn't find and I informed him that it must be in my wife's name. The phone then went dead so I assumed he had the information he needed and hung up. Quite possibly the line just went dead. Yes, I did answer the phone "[redacted] here" because that is the name of my business "[redacted]". [redacted] the name and you will find me. I am a Children's Entertainer.

In the response from the business he said I could only remove the door with a screwdriver if it was unlocked and open. That is not the case because the door (as I said before) was only attached to the outside of the frame with wood screws.

There was no "Z" bar attached in any way shape or form to the installation.

I observed the "Z" bars in the back of the installers truck and when I asked him what they were for he told me "Those are for another job".

He says he is sure that I destroyed these "Z" bars and the security screws when I removed the door but he never came to my house to look at the door to find evidence of this damage so what he is saying is speculation on his part.

Yes, I did install the door on my new house and it is a substandard installation to what his doors provide when they are installed properly but it will be very hard for someone to get past my installation.

He says my emails were full of misrepresentations but once again no one ever came to my house to inspect the door to see if there is the obvious damage there would be if I destroyed "Z" bars and security screws.

As far as the expected outcome goes, yes, I would expect an employee installing doors incorrectly would be fired and in my case I spent $1400.00 on a door which was basically useless but replacing it would be his call.

Once again, this door was NOT installed with the "Z" bars and any speculation that I destroyed "Z" bars and is just that.

I am not looking for something for free. I am not looking for a free door because I destroyed the one I have now and if the salesman or the manager or the owner had come by to inspect the door they would see that there is no damage to it and there were in fact no "Z" bars installed.

AND I'll swear on a stack of [redacted] that all this is true.Desired Settlement: Don't get me wrong. There are no hard feelings. I just want to set the record straight. These guys build great security doors. The quality of the welding and paint are top notch.

I am looking at the glass being half full. If the installer had of installed the door correctly in the first place I would have never been able to remove the door without destroying it and I would have had to spend another $1400.00 on a new one. I would never had known that the door was installed improperly if I hadn't just tried to take the door with me and I would have purchased another from them in a heartbeat.(I would have even had them install a new one on my front door.)

Just the appearance of one of these doors will turn an intruder away and look at another house.

I have a beautiful double door on the back of my house and even though it is not up to the standards of a Steel Shield door it will take someone a few hours to get past the installation I have done. And they will make a considerable amount of noise doing it.

Quite frankly I am only concerned about someone breaking in when I am at home. The alarms and cameras and the big dog will take care of the place when I'm not.

All I am saying is that this particular door was NOT installed with the security "Z" bars.

The allegations by the owner are speculation and this would not have happened if he sent someone to inspect my door.

I am not a scammer looking for something for free. I just assumed that if I was given a product that was not what was promised it would be replaced. But I don't care what happens. I am happy now...in life you take your licks, learn your lesson and move on.

Purchase a door from these people but PLEASE watch the installer and insist the salesman comes by after to inspect it.

Once again, they have a great product. But like anything employees do not always have the best interest of their employers on their minds.

I wish Steel Shield all the best in the future and I hope they prosper.
