Review: I hired Steinway to move my possessions, store them for six months and then deliver them to my new home. Their representative that came to my home to give an estimate told me that an important reason to hire them is that they have their own insurance for my possessions (witnessed by my adult son). Upon delivery I saw that two heirloom stained glass shades (that they had packed) were crushed. One is beyond repair. The next day I saw that my television had never been delivered. Steinway then told me that I should have insured (beyond Homeowners) my things. My television was stolen when in their care and the shades were crushed by putting heavy items on top of the boxes marked "fragile." I was instructed by them to send my receipts and photos and they would resolve the issue. In March this will be 3 years! I periodically speak to their office, resend the papers, receipts and cover letters and receive no reply. I finally wrote to the president of the company, [redacted], and received a phone call that they would look up my papers and get back to me. That was September 2013. I called the woman that left the message and she again said she would get back to me when she found my papers. I received a generic form paper in the mail "Cargo Claim Cover Sheet." This is obvious stalling tactics and I want this matter resolved. I contacted the real estate broker that recommended them to me and he said he stopped recommending them because of similar complaints he had heard of. I've tried every way I can think of to settle this issue that is obviously Steinway's fault, I hope that this complaint will help me settle this matter.Desired Settlement: I want to be reimbursed for the purchase of a new television, a destroyed heirloom stained glass shade and the repair of another stained glass shade. I have receipts for the television purchase and the repair of one shade.
