She gave me the wrong shoe and it hurt my feet

The owner of this business is a scam artistMy wife went to the Ward location to get help with her feetThe clerk took measurements and recommended an insert that cost $Prior to agreeing to purchase the insert we wanted to assure the insert was fully refundable if it didn’t help There were no signs indicating all sales final and the clerk even called the owner to verify if a refund would be givenAfter the clerk confirmed a refund we purchased the insertA week later we came back and asked for a refund because the insert didn’t help with my wife’s feet At first the same clerk tried to up sell with another $insert saying my wife needed the other insert as wellWe balked at the up sell and requested a full refundThe clerk called the owner and initially agreed to provided a full refundA few minutes later the owner called the clerk and told her only she, the owner could provide a full refundWe drove to the Kapiolani location to get our refundThere the owner refused to give us a refund and twisted the situation saying they would work with us for 30-days but not give a 30-day refund policyI have never dealt with such a dishonest small business like this before and I hope others will benefit from our situation and not get ripped-off like we did I will never deal with Step Ahead again and will given them negative reviews if anyone ever asks about them

Purchased hard and soft orthotics for myself and a pair of black/anthracite color Hoka shoes to use with them while on vacation after Thanksgiving in NovemberThey were not in stock at the store at the time and was assured they would be ordered and would be sent to my home in Washington when they came in, which I was told would be about a week or soSo I paid in full, over $for everything-not worrying as this business was highly recommended to me and had done a wonderful job taking care of my son and his orthotics and shoesI returne

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: response from The owner Of Step Ahead Hawaii, one Patricia B[redacted], addresses less than 3% of my complaint made to the Revdex.com Aug 19,2015.
Patricia is also not addressing that the sales man understood I had a serious medical condition and to make the sale he told me I could show them to my physical therapist and if she did not think they were a good fit for me I could return them. Otherwise why would I buy them?
The sales man made unsubstantiated claims of medical benefit regarding the products sold in their store that I purchased - the orthotic inserts. They claim in their store and on their website that these are custom fitted orthotics and they will correct and improve your posture, however after seeing that both of my feet were not similar at all the sales man still gave me a set or prescribed a set of the exact same inserts orthotic inserts for both feet.
The orthotic inserts are not custom made, they will not correct my posture - they are an off-the-shelf product which can be found on the Internet for a fraction of the price and are manufactured in China. Similar claims unsubstantiated by studies or medical personnel are made on their website as are made in their store by sales personnel. As mentioned in my complaint I believe this is considered medical fraud. This is a statement they make on their website "Our custom orthotics are not “one size fits all”. Through our foot and pain analysis, our arch consultants show you the right orthotics for your feet." This is most certainly false as stated in my example. I have had custom arch supports made for me, and they take 2 to 3 weeks to be made so I know the difference they are not Stocked in a back room on a shelf. They also claim to be certified arch support consultants. I searched extensively on medical sites and on [redacted] medical and could find no reference to a certified arch support consultant, it is possible that  the company that manufactures the arch supports issues a certificate of some kind,  they claim this is a medical certification in some parts of their website and in their store again medical fraud.
These are also the rudest meanest people I have had the misfortune to deal with in a very long time. If you are  running a large retail business and have nothing to hide why would you not take your product back?? I called within two days of purchase to state that they were not okay and I needed to return them. The salesman informed me that I was not a good person I was lying and a few other things that weren't very nice and that I could not return my purchase as he promised. He informed me that I must speak to the owner, Patricia who was very hard to get a hold of I left several messages. I finally got ahold of her on the phone and I really wish I never have to speak to such a rude horrible person like her ever again and she owns a store!! Patricia told me, "I don't have to listen to this, I don't have to talk to you, I don't have to put up with this even" then she hung up on me! Even when I told her the serious medical condition she did not care. I don't know if there's anything in their store I would've exchanged for but given the way they do business the 30 days are over another dishonest tactic. Patricia at will not speak to you and hangs up on you the store personnel call you names why would someone want to go back into their store???
Their website and the correlating sales pitch delivered in the store is full of misinformation, I want I will call medical fraud, outrageous claims and on flat out lies.
I have been in marketing myself and I will say they have a convincing and somewhat sophisticated marketing strategy from their website to TV commercials but on closer examination the lies show up and it is still a lie no matter how pretty they've made it. it's a sophisticated fraud.
I sincerely hope the Revdex.com is not allowing a person such as this to be a member. If you look at the other complaints on your site you will see the story Repeated. I am not a big fan of [redacted], but if you look there you'll see the same store repeated sadly many more times.
I made this purchase on my bank debit card - what a mistake, is if this was on a credit card it would've been taken care of, the charges would be reversed and that would be the end of it. However, my bank was horrified when I heard the story and have placed a stop on the funds to her bank pending further investigation. It is much more difficult for a bank to reverse a debit card charge then a credit card.
This is my only good news this horrific experience. I'm only writing this long of a response in hopes that this business can somehow be stopped from their unethical practices. I also voice activated software that helps. Please contact me with any questions or concerns or if you need additional information. I am considering going to the Atty. Gen. With this complaint
Sincerely,
