OK... This transaction started while I was on vacation, so I don't know all exact time frames.... Customer did purchase a trans which we had *** Transmissions of Erie, PA " go through", ( which redone can mean a lot of things, REBUILT MEANS REBUILT with all new parts,
etc... ) We send trans to *** as they are the longest running, trustworthy, and reasonable cost trans shop by FAR, in our area... This trans came back to us previously from another salvage yard, with NO real explanation, so we sent it into *** at that time to have it checked out.. WE DO NOT KNOW EXACTLY THEIR DIAGOSIS PROCESSES, but this trans had to be MAYBE one or EVER that they've looked at, and we have some sort of issue with after selling it... That's in years at least... THEY ARE GOOD... So that's the explanation on the *** "redone" tag question... ( maybe it was a bad choice of wording on our part, and we never know exactly what they do to them)SO... To my knowledge, this customer installed it on HIS OWN after watching a You Tube video... Expert already I guess... He called us cussing and swearing about this and that, and the trans wouldn't make the car go, etc..... So, we tell him to take it to *** at no charge to him, for a diagnosis of the issue... *** report back to us that some part of the front transmission pump is snapped... ( The trans pump is what creates pressure for an automatic trans to go) So with the trans pump piece broken, it's creating NO Pressure, NO moving of the vehicle... *** said to us that NINETY PERCENT of the TIME, this CONDITION IS CAUSED BY A FAULTY INSTALL... That part can "just break" on their own, but RARELY.... So, the fact that *** had "looked at " the trans previously, they also felt bad about the deal, and agreed to REBUILT the Trans for $500.00, which usually is DOUBLE that.... Also, *** said that there were some other install issues, not big, BUT INCORRECTLY DONE, that they would fix.. So, we proposed to customer we would SPLIT $400.00, of the cost to repair the "100% unsure" issue, and he pay outright $for the incorrect install stuff still needing fixed... AND, we through in a $in Store Credit at Jay's for parts purchase, which does NOT expire... We mailed customer check this past week for $200, and the due bill... CUSTOMER SEEMS TO THINK THAT"S NOT FAIR OR GOOD ENOUGH??? BEATS ME.... Could have went with the 90% probability it WAS INSTALLER'S FAULT, and PAID NOTHING.... We were threatened with lawyers, and all sorts of ridiculous insults on Facebook, etc... Customer also previously called in the last days, saying how nice the trans works now, drove it over miles already, etc... Repectfully, Charlie B***President...
