<[redacted].[redacted]>Hi [redacted],I spoke to you briefly.  Since Brenda is returning tomorrow and so we don’t have to start over, I will contact her tomorrow to review this before sending along.Just want a sanity check before sending my final response to the CC’s and Sterling Hotrod. Thanks,[redacted]  From: [redacted], [redacted]<[redacted].[redacted]>Date: Wed, Jun 8, 2016 at 1:47 PMSubject: [redacted] Project- Final email to reviewv2 Case #[redacted]To: "[redacted]" <[redacted]>Cc: "[redacted], [redacted]" <[redacted].[redacted]>Brenda- Ok.  This has been updated.I know you were out on vacation returning today….I will give you a call to review before sending to the CC’s and Sterling.I needed time to complete my analysis. Financial Summary:Original quote estimate was 6121.95Then it became 10,445.49Then w/o warning, the hours that were 10hrs became 54.5 for work originally quoted (frame body work), and we received invoicing that ended up making the new total almost 19KWe settled on paying 16K to get our car out of there not assuming to find all the issues we did. Then we came home to inspect and found the following: The initial issue found was the workmanship of the frame work…we took it to you specifically to get the frame straight and it is not straightWe need credit back for this so we can pay another body shop to straighten/fix the frame·        Core support off by 1 inch, left frame rail 1 inch higher than right, Right shock tower will need to be pulled 1 inch out·        We cannot install fenders, hood, bumper w/o getting this corrected·        Measurements done with [redacted] with [redacted] are below in email dated Monday, April 18, 2016 9:43 PMSee attached Powerpoint for measurements and pictures We also found issues with the following that we are not requesting credit back for because [redacted] fix on his on- See slides 10-13 on the attached powerpoint·        Regarding the bonding of the overlay panel onto firewall/cowl with 3M panel bonding adhesive – the panel fell off on the first day back in our·        The rear-end reinforcement brace has been welded on incorrectly so it’s off and will have to be removed and ground down and put back on the correct way ___________________________________________________________________________... to the last Sterling email:Response to #1The fenders and hood were bolted on when it was picked up.  We could not look at the engine compartment until we got home and took off the fenders and hood.Nothing happened because the paint and everything is still in-tact.  –see pics on slide 2 of PowerPoint Response to #2We could not afford for you to finish.  Your originally estimate of 10hrs went up to 54.5 hours at a rate of $109 per hour which is not the industry standard body rate of $43-$45We have a 2nd opinion though another body shop who has looked at this and measured.  We are going to have to take it to them to actually put on a frame machine to try and fix it.We have been working with [redacted] with [redacted]- 30+ years of experience who helped us with measurements and pictures. We already had to buy new parts and how was our car on a frame machine when the pictures you sent show it on posts. Response to #3Ok, noted but it’s not straight per my original email, we cannot complete it w/o fixing it again. Response to #4/#5We have done a complete invoice analysis with the Revdex.com.We also reviewed all the work completed and made notes to that effect.Taking into consideration the credits, we are only asking for that which makes up the frame work.We are requesting $3585 _________________________________________________________________________... summary, we have reviewed all of this with the Revdex.com and they are in agreement that what is being requested is fair and justified and is being filed with the Revdex.com dispute case currently open with them.We have also sent the same details and information to each of these credit cards as part of the dispute cases open with each one. Please issue credits to the following credit cards ending with the following number:[redacted] 2K[redacted] 1K[redacted] 585.00 Thanks- [redacted] & [redacted] ____________________________________________________________________... Hot Rods [mailto:[redacted]] Sent: Thursday, April 21, 2016 9:23 AMTo: [redacted], [redacted] <[redacted].[redacted]>Cc: SHR CS <[redacted]>Subject: [Ext] [redacted] Project I have reviewed all of our notes and info on this project: Here is our position. 1.) [redacted] inspected the car picked it up and signed for it. There are no warranties expressed or implied. Further we have no way of knowing if the car was damaged or altered after it left our shop. 2.) We were not allowed to finish the front frame job it was stopped before we were done. We would need to inspect the car in our shop to verity your accusations regarding the job. 3.) The project was done using Ford Motor Co specs for that particular car. It measured plumb and square according to Ford spec and with in allowable tolerances in our shop. 4.) We gave a discount to [redacted] when we started the job that saved $3500 off our regular rates. We then gave an additional discount of $2500 on the front end work. So a $5000 dollar discount for the front end work is not reasonable or fair.  5.) We are extremely busy and so are you so give us a fair and reasonable number so we can all settle this and move on. Thanks, --Tom S[redacted]Sterling Hot RodsRestoration, Hot Rods, Muscle CarsSales, Construction, Service, Parts[redacted]Sterling, VA 20166www.SterlingHotRods.com[SterlingHotRods.com][redacted]###-###-#### Shop###... us on [redacted]  __________________________________________________________________... Only found a couple of minor mistakes in the parts listings which amounted to under $100 savings. These were corrected.  Estimates are just that... an estimate. When working with modified cars and trucks and doing work that is custom to the individual car it is very difficult estimate because of the unknowns that can not be seen. Add in aftermarket parts and it gets even more difficult. There were many change orders authorized by [redacted] so it is a bit confusing for anyone not doing the actual work to follow. All of these items were discussed with [redacted] and approved. The time is accurate, it is what it took to get the work done. It looks like there are four areas where the greatest time is concentrated: Brakes:  The overage here is do to the fact that the brake kit as required by wilwood need drilling of the spindles which are hard as can be and take forever to drill. Diff reinforcement and wheelie bars: Because this was not done when the rear was initially install it required more time Front frame section repair and install: the biggest problem here was the car had been in an accident and had to be straightened before installing frame rails. And the lower portion of the shock towers was completely rusted and had to be fabricated from scratch. Torque boxes: This required more time because of roll cage issue, at points two guy were required one on the bottom and one inside the car to get things to line up. We believe we are owed for all of these items. There is no for a meeting on our part, but we would be happy to meet with you however it will have to be on Monday 4/18/2016 after 1:30 pm and before 4:30 pm as we have several deadlines and projects leaving today.  Since this has turned into a bigger project than we both initially planned we are willing to work with you on the invoice. Part total : $2680, paid $1120, Balance due $1560. this is a non-negotiable item Labor total: $16,160.00, paid $3290, Balance due $12,870 this is the item we are willing to negotiate. Make us a reasonable fair offer and we can settle this... The car is all packed up and ready to go so soon as we can get this worked out it can go home and wait for it's engine. We look forward to getting this worked out so we can all move on to our next projects. Thanks On Wed, Apr 13, 2016 at 9:16 AM, Sterling Hot Rods <[redacted]> wrote:I'm scheduled out today and tomorrow and need time review the details. It will take me a day or two to review this and digest it all...  some comments based on a quick overview of your email. The hours are the hours, they are well documented with detailed time sheets from techs, supervision and approval by me.  To insinuate that we are dishonest when we were following the instructions of your husband (who did not ask for estimates when he authorized many change orders) is offensive and frankly the wrong way to start off a review of this type. I'm personally very offended by this remark. We have hundreds of customers who will disagree with your assessment. We will get back to you late Friday and let you know what we have come up with in the mean time we will pack up the car and it's parts (on our nickle) ready it for transport out of our shop. Thanks, On Tue, Apr 12, 2016 at 7:14 PM, [redacted], [redacted] <[redacted].[redacted]> wrote:Hi JD & Tom,Good Evening. Yes, thank you for your attention to this.     We are not concerned with the work being done and described but the amount of hours being assigned to these projects.Based on your discussions with [redacted], we are expecting honest work at reasonable hours.  Summary below: The original quote was $6121.95We understood this would adjust based on changes but we also would have expected to be consulted if there was going to be a major pricing change from original projects discussed or added change orders. Once the project started, we then received 3 invoices: Invoice [redacted] for $3098.35 dated 2/26/16 -paidInvoice [redacted] for $1374.75 dated 3/4/2016 -paidInvoice [redacted] for $5972.39 dated 3/9/16  For the last invoice, we knew the front end needed to be done and so I stated I would pay that once the final was added.I had estimated from the original bill another $1090 (10hrs) plus the install mount align headlights and cowl and remove all wiper components at $218 and 218.That means I was expecting approx. $7400 total based on what was originally quoted and already paid. Therefore, we assumed we would end up paying double what was originally quoted based on the invoices we had seen to-date. Instead we received an updated invoice [redacted] for $5839.52 AND another invoice [redacted] dated 3/23/16 for $8,179.08That is $14,018.60 in addition to what had already been paid. This is triple the original estimate and based on the pictures the car is still not done.We received pictures but at no time were we shown a new estimate or anything prior to getting these updated invoices.Again, we are not concerned with the work being done and described but the amount of hours being assigned to these projects You can understand why we are highly alarmed and this has caused us a lot of stress since we received these. We are awaiting the corrected invoice with reasonable hours for the original work discussed. Based on our calculations in the attached spreadsheet (see yellow highlighted sections), we show that 60.25 hrs should be removedand this assumes that all the work agreed upon is 100% completed. That would mean that we would owe $7451.35 in addition to what we have already paid. For a new total of $11,924.45 at 100% completed. Thank you,[redacted] & [redacted]###-###-#### From: Sterling Hot Rods [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, April 12, 2016 4:50 PMTo: [redacted] <[redacted]>; [redacted], [redacted] <[redacted].[redacted]>Cc: SHR CS <[redacted]>Subject: [Ext] [redacted] Hello [redacted] and [redacted], I've been out of town for my mom's 90th birthday party.
