Review: In july 2011 I moved into a trailor owned by my parent on there property. My mon had sterling culligan water have a softener unit put in around a year before, for the farm help that had lived there. Aftere moveing in I noticed the water still didn't see right and smelled bad. A culligan sales person said that I needed a carbon unit put in, to take care for smell. So I had them do that. Now I had a water softener bill, and a carbon filter bill. As time went by I had techs out on severial occasions, cause my water never seen right, plus people would come over and complain about how bad my water was. Then culligan said they came out with some new patenend water softener that would take care of all my water problems. So they took ould softener unit out, and carbon filter unit, and installed this. Plus now they said I would need a reverse ossmosis system put in, to have good drinking water. So I scheduled to have that unit put in as well. When tech arrive I was talking to him about the water issues I was haveing, and he said I didn't need a reverse ossmosis system put in. He asked me if the sales person offerered me the water despenser system, that would be way cheaper for me. I said no, he said it was cause the sales rep wouldn't get any commision off this. So another words it is all about the money he can put into his pocket, not me as a costomer. He had a water dispencer system in his van, so I went with that instead. The tech commented that he would get a ear full from the sales guy for takeing his sale away. But he didn't care, cause he was quiting in two weeks to go work a stanly prision, and I wished him the best! Any way the new unit wasn't working much better, and I had culligan come get there water dispencer system, cause my girl friend moved in, and had one that she bought. She could hardly beleive how bad my water was yet, she wouldn't even shower, or let her son shower there. I refused to pay any more on the bill till the problem was fixed!!! Why should I pay for a product that isn't fixing the problem. When I talked to culligan, they said I would have to pay up on bill before they would even come out, I still refused to pay, finally got someone to come out, after talking to a couple of different culligan employes. There was a coulple of problems with the unit, so they fixed them, and said my water should be good now. But of course it was still bad, by this time I just got sick of dealing with this. To this point I have had sick cats, that I contribute to the bad water, and several $100's of dollars of cloths runied over this. I even told culligan about all my cloths that were runied, do to there softener unit not working right. They didn't seem to care, all they were worried about was my past due bill, that I still refused to pay. Cause why would I pay for something that wasn't working!!! My girl friend was very upset about the water situation, she had to shower at the gym, and drive to her moms in chippewa, just to shower. I grew up on a farm, so I didn't mind showing, just would,t drink it. At least though the last guy that came out to work on it was the reginal manager, and he was willing to cut my bill in half, for the problems. But then when I received my bill again, it was full price, so I waited till next bill, still was full price. Contacted culligan about this, the office didn't know anything about it, and demanded me to pay my bill. Finally after that, and my girl friend nagging me to get rid of culligan and call gibsons. I called culligan and told them to come get there stuff, they told me I was on a 5yr contrat and would send me to collections. I told them I didn't care to come get there stuff, I an't paying another dime for equipment that dosn't work!! I then told them to call me before they came out, I wanted to make sure I was there when they picked up there equipment. So they never called, I came home from work, and they took there stuff, with out my permision to enter my place! They left stuff layeing all over, lamp tiped over on the ground. So this upset me, I wanted to be there, and they never called to tell me they were comeing out! Anyway at this point, I didn't care, was just happy the stuff was gone. So I called gibsons, and had them come out to install there water softener equipment. When they went to start instailling there softener stuff, they realized that there was no line comeing out after the pressure tank. culligan had installed the softener unit wrong! They plummbed the unit in before the pressure tank, and gibson said that they almost did they same thing! but they cought it. Corey they gibson guy said your water softner unit will never work right unless installed after the pressure tank. myself wouldn't of knowen any bettter. He said he didn't have time to install that day then, cause there needed to be holes made in the wall to plumb the pipes in after the pressure tank. So this being said, the whole time my water softener wasn't working right, because it wasn't plummed right, should have been plummed in after the pressure tank! So I desided to give culligan another chance to fix there problem. I called them, and explained to them what had happened, and sence acording to them I was under contract, we could work something out. The lady had to talk to the manager, and explain the situation. So they called me back, and told me that they wouldn't do any thing, and didn't want to do buisness with me any more. So that is where I am at now, seemes like all this company was worried about is there money, and not what the customer needs. I gave them an oportunity to say there were sorry, and fix there problem. I had sick cats, $100's of dollars of cloths and bed spreads ruined, and they could care less. To me this is no way to do buisness, and is a terrible company! I don't think that they thought that someone like me would contact you! If there system would of been plummbed in right from the beginning, the water softener system would of worked right, and I would of payed my bill, and I wouldn't be e-mailing you today. This is not about the money, but priciple! That being said, I am not perfect, and could of handled the situation better to. Now I am willing to give culligan one last chance. What I would like, is for them to come out and plumb and insalled there softener unit corectly, so it works, and clear my bill! I really don't think this is to much to ask, all things considered. If not willing, then I would like bill cleared in collection, and want all the money I payed them from july 2011 back. Cause I was paying for equipment that wasn't installed properly! And also about $500 for the cloths and bead spreads that got ruined from washing them with there unit hooked up! And there really isn't a price on sick animals! I have never filed a complaint before, but this just took the cake! If need be I will contact a lawyer. Don't want to, but sterling culligan, has to learn how to treat its customers! There sales reps, r more worried about makeing money off what they can sell u, that doing what is right for the customer. So if you can please help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank You!!Desired Settlement: I stated the out come above

Review: I lease a water softener from Sterling Water. It was installed in the bedroom closet on 2/14/14, so I had it less than 8 months when this happened. While I was out of town for the weekend - Oct. 4-5 - it sprung a leak. Sterling Water replaced the O-ring that was leaking. Because of the amount of water that had leaked, I had to have the carpet, pad, sub-floor and insulation replaced as a result of this. It took a total of 31 days before I could move back into the bedroom. Sterling Water has not accepted responsibility for any of the damage. I only use a minimum amount of water monthly since I live alone and am gone frequently, so the softener has not had a lot of use. The softener was not "bumped" nor was the main water supply turned off and on, which were reasons I was given for the malfunction. At this point, I am very hesitant to leave for a weekend. I have no guarantee that this won't happen again.Desired Settlement: I am asking for $500 - the amount of my insurance deductible. That is approximately one third of what I had to pay to have all the work done in the bedroom. I think this is a fair amount taking into account also the disruption and stress to my life.
