Review: I signed a contract for 3 novels. Since then, SterlingHouse merged into International Book Management Corp. and I was told because of that they couldn't honor the contract anymore, but that they would publish the second novel as agreed upon. I rewrote the novel twice on their editor's suggestion and resubmitted it. The last I've heard from anyone, [redacted] in particular, was April. She said she was struggling with her 5th round of Lyme's Disease, she was too sick to conduct business, and if I wanted my rights back, she would understand. And April 2 is the last time I've heard anything from her. No one answers my calls or returns any of my emails. She has taken me for a considerable amount of money, but at this point if I could get my rights back for my second novel, I would take it and absorb the loss of money. Lesson learned.Desired Settlement: I'd like to get the rights back on my second novel so I could publish with a reputable publisher.
