This has by far been the worst experience we have ever had with a builderThe serious errors and dishonesty is beyond the ability of this review to containI will list the most serious briefly and you can read some of the details if desired: He does not know what he is doing, he rarely shows up on a job except to demand money, he does not document errors and we have to repeat them continually, he will not let his subcontractors talk with clients (probably because they will find out he is paying them much less than he told us), he makes huge mistakes and will not take responsibility for them, he mingles all job funds together and will not give home owners a listing of where their money was spent (especially when he shows up to demand more and has not shown any progress with the last draw of money), he is completely unreliable and many subcontractors refuse to work for him now If you want to really find out what his clients think, review the building permits, go to those homes and ask the homeownerDon't just rely on the ones he tells you aboutHe won't tell you about all the ones who will never give him a good referenceI wish I had done thatI would have saved a lot of money, time, and grief! We should have fired him from the first time we saw his huge incompetence, but he had taken a huge amount as down payment and would not refund itNumerous communications & emails indicated the back of our split level home was to be at ground levelAfter the basement was poured, it was obvious it was more than feet above ground! The driveway had to be built up almost feet because of the serious errorSteve did not want to build a rail to keep our grandchildren from falling down the foot drop on the side of the drivewayAfter many requests, he reluctantly built the railWe have several steps to climb to get to the back door Steve does not document on the contract exactly what you will get for the huge sum he requires to build your houseHe only says "It is a high end custom home." I was very concerned about the lack of documentation and told him that nice cabinets were important to meHe assured me that I could have nice cabinetsAfter taking our money, he then told us his "allowance" (which was not on the contract) for the kitchens, baths, and a utility roomWe were not able to find even the cheapest cabinets at Home Depot for that amountSteve took our money, then told us that if we wanted nice cabinets we would have to pay out of our own pockets (he never refunded the money we gave him) The home drawing showed the car port posts wrapped in stone but he did not leave enough room to wrap them as the drawing showedHe argued that he was going to leave our carport with 4xgreen warped poles, without wrapping them in anythingWe had to argue with him to put cedar on the posts Our foot ceilings in the basement are ½ feet because Steve measures from the dirt up....yes, you read this correctly He also miscommunicated one wall dimension in our living room and the error resulted in a large empty space in one wallWe had the empty space turned into a bookcase to make it look normalSteve then charged us for the bookcase as if it were an aand not a correction of his error There has been a strong sewage smell in the basement which he refuses to fixHe says it is "coming from the water" but does not acknowledge that as illogical because it is only in the basementWe have nice water filters and the water is fineIt is not the water that smells like sewageHe simply does not want to fix it I asked him for a breakdown of the expenses for our homeHe said he could not get that number because he does not break down the costs when he buys a load of building materialsHe says the amount is split between the jobsWe said we were concerned that he was spending our money on a different job because we did not see any progress when we gave him the large paymentsHe admitted that when another client does not pay their bill that he has to use money from othersThis is illegal, but he does not seem to care He started the job the summer of with a contract completion date of March He demanded money up front and then worked only a few weeks after each drawIn February 2015, the home was less than 60% finished and he had already collected 80% of the fundsHe demanded more money and we said he could not have more until he completed 80% of the buildAfter months of him not showing up at all, my husband gave him another 15%He still had our cabinet down payment and did not refund itAfter many many months of us giving him a list of outstanding items, he abandoned the job in April 2017, almost years after he started...it is still not completed but we will hire someone else to do the restIt is too exhausting to have to deal with himHe will eventually go broke because he is so dishonestDo not give him your moneyHe may go broke with your money in his pocket!

All the wonderful things we heard about them turned out to be true Steve Esposito Construction has built us a dream home exceeding all our expectations It was a pleasure to work with Steve, he had a job schedule, it was completed on time and on budget The quality of our beautiful dream home speaks volumes
