Steve Farmer's Auto Sales Reviews (1)

Review: They sold me a 2000 Ford Taurus for way more than blue book value, but the worst part is, is the car is a LEMON! I have had this car for only one month and have had nothing but problems out of it from day one. it had the check engine light on when I bought it and I was told it needed an o2 sensor, which they did replace but in the same day I got it back from them the light came back on and the car started to sputtering and stalling out. called them about this and they kept promising to bring it in and have their mechanic look at it, they kept putting me off and giving me random reasons why they couldn't get it in. finally the car began to misfire and I took it to a parts store for a scan, was told it was misfiring and needed a coil pack, we replaced this part and it did not fix the problem and worse yet while my husband replaced this part he found oil all over the spark plugs and in the wells. we called our local mechanic shop and were given the devastating news that this car had REAL problems! the head gasket, head, and or valuves needed to be replaced and I was looking at big money to fix it. I called steve farmer and asked them about this and they were not helpful and told me if I wanted them to look at it I had to have it towed to them at my cost their rollback was not for hire! I understand I bought this car as is but they did not have to do this to me! I gave them $3000 and still owe them $800 and still don't have a running car. I am very broken hearted, I am a simple wife and mother I went to those people because I was in need of a car and gave them all the money I had. my only hope is that my complaint helps other poor families so that they don't go to these people and get taken like I did!Desired Settlement: I would like to have my money refunded to me and for them to come and get their car or at least waive the last $800 I owe them and have them give me the title to car free and clear so that I can dispose of it as I see fit.

Response:

Your letter dated March 19, 2014, was received by our office today, March 26, 2014.

Prior to receiving communication/complaint from Revdex.com, we did try to help this customer, and were

awaiting the arrival of the vehicle to diagnose her most recent problems/concerns with the vehicle.

The vehicle was sold "As ls" and was acknowledged accordingly by the customer on both the Buyers

Guide and Buyers Order. As a goodwill gesture, as acknowledged by the customer, our mechanic

replaced an 02 sensor.

Steve Farmer Auto Sales, Inc. did make good faith effort to coordinate an appointment for the vehicle

in question.

When Steve Farmer spoke to customer on March 15,2014, customer was told that if she would get the

vehicle to our lot, we would be happy to check it out. Customer stated that she would get vehicle to

Steve Farmer Auto Sales the next week.

March 15, 2014 was our last communication concerning problems with the vehicle until receipt of Revdex.com

complaint today.

Please feel free to contact our office for further information

All best,

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

yes they told me that they had replaced the o2 sensor but on the same day they claimed to do so they check engine light came right back on. I have since taken it to [redacted] Ford so that I could find out once and for all what was wrong with my car. ford check my car and informed me there was a number of things wrong with car, needs a fuel pump, misfiring on 2 banks, hole in coolant system, and catalytic converter needs to be replaced. $1,500 in parts and $500 in labor! I am aware I bought this car as is but I just don't know how they can be allowed to sell a car with so much wrong with it without being up front about it, I would have never bought this car had I known. I feel cheated and lied to, I can not afford to fix this car and Ford recommends that I don't put that much into repairs for a 2000 Taurus that is almost ready to trip two hundred thousand miles, that I have over paid for it and that I should cut my lose and sell it for scrap; but I cant even do that since I am still paying for this car.
