A salesman came out (name with held for now) pretty much sold us on insurance work for a new roof due to hail damage, my husband is a roofer and agreeing upon them doing the work because they made us sign an “agreement” then verbally the salesman agreed that the roofers would not install shingles on our roof under 40 degree weather, as the shingle manufacturer advises that it will cause the shingles not to lay right and/or nails will bust the shingles because they are so cold. We’ve been in contact with said salesman several times and he assured us they would not be installed under 40 degree weather. Well that was a lie!! They came when it was 30 degrees with the wind chill even colder.. and the salesman’s response was if you don’t let them do it they will move on and yours will not get done, I don’t know why your so concerned there is a lifetime warranty on shingles and a 2 year Workman warranty... there is no warranty when my roof leaks and causes interior damage!!!! Poor business on Steve kempers representation! Those rules come from the manufacturer of all shingle companies! I will also let the shingle company know they will be taking a loss when all these shingles start breaking and causing leaks!

Date: Tue, Feb 5, 2019 at 11:26 AMTo: *** <***@myRevdex.com.org>***,Thank you for your call this morning. In regard to the complaint from Shelby B, our General Manager met with ***'s husband ***. He collected the payment in full, less a discount of $100. They said that this was satisfactory and would notify Revdex.com.Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information. Thank you for your assistance with this homeowner.

Around mid-June 2016, I met with Jeremy A, a representative of Steve Kemper Builders. He was going door to door notifying homeowners of the recent hail storm we had in the area and how we may qualify for a new roof based on damages. After speaking with Jeremy, I filed my insurance claim and moved forward with the process. Once we met all of our insurance and HOA guidelines, we decided to proceed with the install of the new roof.

The new roof was scheduled to be installed in the first week of July, 2016. I was home the day of the removal of the old roof and the install of the new roof. Once the new roof was installed, I was notified by Jeremy that they had run out of shingles to cover the bay window located in the formal living room. I expressed my concern to him about possible water damage since the area is exposed and it would be raining in the next day or so. Jeremy assured me that he will install the shingles as soon as he receives them. However, this process took more than a few days and if I remember correctly, it took almost two weeks to get the shingles and have them installed. When he did install the remaining roof shingles, I was out of town on vacation and was unable to see the progress until my return.

Once the entire roof job was completed, I was happy with the services performed and how easy the process was; however, after a few months we noticed that there was some form of water damage forming in the ceiling almost directly under the seam where the bay window attaches to the house. From the inside of the house, the damaged area was about two or three feet from the center bay window inward towards the center of the formal living room. The water stains and damage eventually got worse with each passing storm and in lieu of calling your office, I decided to cut an access hole and spray some of the *** into the area around that bay window seal with the hopes of stopping the water from seeping in. I patched up the ceiling and re-painted it thinking that the issue has been dealt with. Unfortunately, as time passed, the water damage continued to creep up again, and this time I had reached out to Steve Kemper's office for the warranty coverage as there was nothing else that I could do on my end to correct this issue. This is where the office sent Darrell to inspect the area and hopefully repair the damaged drywall again. Darrell came in and saw first hand the location of the water damage and could see that the damage was about two to three feet from the window. He inquired about water pipes over the formal living room, to which I stated that there were none. During the construction phase of our house, I took all the pictures I could of every step in the process. This is where I told Darrell that there were no water pipes or any other pipe that may carry any other type of liquid over the formal living room.

Darrell made a trip to Home Depot and purchased a sealant. He came back and placed the sealant on the seams where the roof meets the siding of the house. After placing the sealant on there, it appears that there have been no signs of water creeping back in. He then explained how this may have not been due to the roofing but moreso about the siding, to which I told Darrell that we have not touched the siding of our house since it was handed over to us by the builder. Furthermore, there were no leaks or water damages prior to the July 2016 roof replacement, therefore one can only come to one logical conclusion, that when the roofing was replaced, either it was not done properly, or a step was missed. After Darrell was done with his sealant placement, he told me to call him in three weeks so that he may come back and repair the ceiling damages. Instead of three, I gave Darrell six weeks to make sure that his method worked properly before I schedule a ceiling repair. This is where I contacted the office and spoke with Tammy, once again to schedule a ceiling repair. However, since I was re-painting the interior of my house, I had painters who also noticed the damage and offered to repair it. I called Tammy and advised her that the painters I had in my home could do the job for $500. Since they did such an outstanding job in other parts of my house with regards to drywall repair due to children damaging it, I went ahead and told him to proceed and repair the ceiling as I did not hear back from Steve Kemper's office and I was not going to leave that damaged, cracked and stained ceiling there after I re-painted the entire house.

As Jeremy can attest to, this was the same exact bay window that was left incomplete in July 2016. When they returned to complete the install, did they miss a step in haste? Again, there was no water leaks or damages prior to the roof install, but there was water damage and leaks after the install.

We have spoken with *** and resolved.

Thank you!

Heavy thunder storms with flood warnings pass through Manassas, Prince Williams County on Saturday, July 21, 2018 is forecast,to end on Thursday, July 26, 2018. Later the same day (July 21, 2018) a dripping was noticed from the ceiling in the kitchen area, all indication appears the dripping originated from the roof. Wet seams were also noticed in the ceiling which shows a separation of the drywall. A call was made to Steve Kemper Builders Inc, which went to voice mail, a message was left explaining the situation in detail. A call was not returned on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Another call was made on July 23, 2018 which was a Monday. I spoke to Vicki a representative requesting for someone to come out and inspect the problem for a possible solution. As of today July 24, 2018 I have not heard from the company. I strongly feel that a company that puts its customers first should take immediate action to look into urgent emergency problems.

This company installed the new roof July 2017.

On July 26 we made contact with Mr. Glasper. Our contractor went out on July 27. He found no indication of a leak inside or outside. He also inspected the attic and it showed no indication that there was a leak. He found the roof to be very solid, with no problems that he could see. I have pictures from the inspection that I can forward if you would like to see them.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
