Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Short and too the point: Did Steve's Garage fix the vibration issue with the vehicle that they had from July - August 22, 2015? NO Therefore, if they did not fix the vibration issue, but charged me for repairs, how can Steve's Garage truthfully specify that "they repaired the vehicle in a fashion that every shop would have done in the same manner" as specified in their response? Does Steve's Garage have any written authorization for work that they performed NO I never signed any pre-work authorization documents Therefore, all items that I specified in my original complaint still stand, such as unauthorized oil change and unauthorized installment of CV Axle and shaft Steve's Garage specifies in their response that they "did not charge me for the gasket on the drain plug", but the receipt received from Steve's Garage clearly specifies that they charged me for the engine oil filter, synthetic oil, and a oil change labor fee Additionally, they charged me for unauthorized work to repair the CV Axle and CV Axle Shaft Request mandate that Steve's Garage provide pre-authorized signed written proof of repairsThe only conversations between Steve's Garage and I involved discussion of the front differential (NOTHING ELSE WAS EVER DSCUSSED)Why did I not have Steve's Garage perform additional work that they specified my vehicle needed? In Steve's Garages response, he specified that additional issues such as the "right front lower control arm was very bad." Other issues identified in Steve's Garage response were a "U-Joint located on the main drive shaft and a carrier bearing needed replaced." This information was disclosed to me on the day I picked the vehicle up Long story short: It was not that I neglected the vehicle by not having Steve's Garage repair these additional issues, it was that I had lost faith in his professional abilities to properly diagnose my vehicle and I felt as if he was searching to milk as much money as possible from me without insurance that the vehicle would be repaired Steve's Garage had the vehicle from July - August The vehicle had the same vibration issue when I picked it up as it had when I dropped it off I no longer had trust that they would repair my vehicle or continue to keep it for an unspecified period of time If Steve's Garage had discussed the vehicle repairs that they deemed necessary, why didn't Steve's Garage request authorization to perform the additional repairs at the same time that they repaired the CV Axle and Shaft? Answer: Because they never received authorization in the first place to replace the CV Axle or shaftAfter picking my vehicle up from Steve's Garage, I took my vehicle to [redacted] Automotive in Kearneysville, WV to have the car repaired Was the vibration issue fixed by [redacted] Automotive? YES, in three business days I had my vehicle back and it was running without any vibration issuesDid [redacted] Automotive specify on the repair receipt that the previous mechanic misdiagnosed problem with drive shaft? YES Did [redacted] Automotive also specify that the front differential did not need replaced? YES (See lower left hand corner of attachment repair receipt from [redacted] AutomotiveIn summary, I have provided substantial documentation to support my complaint, and should be awarded the financial request specified in the original complaint Steve's Garage failed to fix the vibration issue but charged me a fee How can Steve's Garage specify that they did not misdiagnose the issue, when a second automotive shop clearly wrote that the previous mechanic had misdiagnosed the issue, and the second shop fixed the vibration issue in three business daysThis complaint should be closed and the findings and results should be in my favor Regards, [redacted] ***

Steve's Garage Response to Complaint;
The *** *** that came in for "vibration" issues was troubleshot properly and was repaired in a fashion that every shop would have done in the same manner. We computer scanned the vehicle (Which the customer thought and stated that there was issues with the transmission) and looked for any fault codes within the transmission and even checked the engine performance. There was no codes present at the timeThen we lifted the vehicle and looked for any issues that could cause any type of "vibration" while drivingFirst thing we seen was that right front CV Axle Boot was torn and there was some "play" in itSecond thing we found was that the front drive axle where it goes into the front differential had excessive amount of "play" in itWe checked other accessible causes and didn't find anything else. Since we didn't spend a lot of time troubleshooting we gave the customer reduced rates on scanning and troubleshooting as shown on the invoice as of a scan (1/off) and troubleshooting (70% off). We wanted to repair the obvious problems first that cause vibrations while driving. Customer authorized all repairs with a quote of around $1,With the parts they purchased and our final billing we were under cost
Customer states that they want a full return of all cost incurred because of misdiagnosed. Our stance is we didn't misdiagnose anything. This is a *** has over 182,745 miles on it. When we pulled the Differential out of the car there was no oil in it at all. Bearings were bad. Steve's Garage even has a video of how much resistance it took to show how bad it wasEven the shop that was going to rebuilt it even said directly to the complaining party that the bearings were bad and had other issues. The customer even stated that in their complaintAlso we (Steve's Garage) showed the customer on how much play there was in the differential after repairs to prove it was a legitimate repair.
Customer brought vehicle back because of continued vibrations while driving. We diagnosed the vehicle at no chargeOther issues were a U-Joint located on the main drive shaft and a Carrier Bearing. This diagnostic fee would have been 2.5 hours of labor ($150.00) that we agreed to do at no charge in an attempt to satisfy this customer. This was an act of going above and beyond to satisfy a customer.
This *** has been neglected to be maintained properly and shows by the multiple issues the vehicle hasOther Problems - Major Oil Leak, we fixed by doing a oil change and putting a proper gasket on the drain plug for no charge(Customer stated that it was an "unauthorized repair" in the complaint)Right front lower control arm is very bad - Customer refused to have it replaced, we advised of the potential hazards and other components that will be effected of premature wear and again refused to have it repairedSteve's Garage
