Steven D. Talbot, P.S. Reviews (1)

She did not email me repeatedly to check on progress.  We exchanged emails frequently because of the issues involved.  I did get sick and was laid up for a week.  I had her write a letter stating the hardship reasons to present to the IRS for requesting abatement of penalties. ...

This is content that I could not write for I did not know the hardships she suffered, only she could write these things.   I did not file the wrong form with the IRS.  A Revenue Office came to her door at about the time I filed my power of attorney.  I can take two weeks for a power of attorney to get posted on the IRS web site so it had not posted when the Revenue Officer came to visit her.  I promptly called him upon learning he had contacted my client, which he is not permitted to do.   IRS problems take a great deal of time to resolve.  There was a new remedy available and I told the clients about it.  I told them that I wanted to discuss the new remedy at the Las Vegas Conference that I attend annually at the end of October and beginning of November.  They agreed, and I did discuss it at the conference.  The conference was two months away when I met the clients for the first time in August. One day in January, Mr. Client phoned me and was very abusive of me.  He works out in the field and is away from home all but 2 or 3 days a month.  He had no idea of what communications were occurring between Mrs. Client and me. I told Mr. Client that I do not accept clients who are abusive to me and that I will not continue to represent him.  I did not know whether he and Mrs. Client were in agreement.  It was my intent to continue representing Mrs. Client and I sent her an email asking her to confirm our appointment for the next day, which was a Sunday.  I care a great deal about my clients and I arrange weekend appointments for them if necessary. She wrote back with a statement that her husband had fired me.  Later she requested a refund of the retainer she paid me.  I sent her a statement showing that I had done much more work than she had paid me for. The first ½ hour of our initial consultation was free.  That is clear from the statement she received.
