Review: On August 12th, we rented two Honda 400cc quads for a two hour period from Steves ATV. We had problems with one of the ATVs. We would get the ATV in gear and as we were driving forward, it kept slipping in gear. After riding the ATV for a hour, the ATV would no longer go into gear. We ended up in the middle of the dunes. They came out to get us and towed back the ATV. We stopped riding after that. We rode the ATV for less than a hour. Steve ATVs instructed us that we were to pay for the charges of fixing the ATV. We had a long discussion on how the ATV was not working right from the start. They told us that we did the damage. I been riding ATV for 25 years and know how to ride them. They charge me $200 for two hours of riding and then added another $209 for the repair of the ATV. I find this to be extremely unethical. They put a product out that had a problem and then made me pay for the damages. I am willing to pay for the $200 of rental, but not the $209 of damages.Desired Settlement: I am willing to pay for the $200 rental, but want a complete refund of the $209 for damages to the ATV.

I have owned three ATVs for the last fifteen years. All three of the ATVs were clutchs and Hondas. I recently sold them. I have vast experience with driving a clutch. When I rented the ATV from Steves ATV, I noticed that the clutch was slipping. I continue to move forward as it would miss. Steve ATV rented me a ATV which had mechanical problems. It was not because I did not have experience driving one. Then, they turned around and said I ruined the clutch. Steve ATV needs to realize that with usage, clutches will go out. The cost of replacing the clutch should not have been pushed back to the renter of the ATV, but the owner. The ATV should of never left the store. It should of been replaced. With all machinery, maintenance is part of the process of keeping them running correctly and smoothly. Steve ATV knowlingly knew that the ATV had mechancical problem. Shame on them for pushing this cost back to the customer.

If you would like to keep your hard earned money in your pocket rather than this place trying to take it from you, If you love your kids and spouse than keep away from Steves' ATV, Also known as Grover Beach Motorsports. Let me explain how horrible this place is and also how horrible there customer service is. We recently rented a 4 passenger razor off road vehicle. Right from the start the service was horrible, helmet oversized on my daughter and no one checked on that, the goggles they gave us all scratched up, could not even see 5 ft away. did they care, NO.. Then they put us in the Razor 4 seater. Went out into the dunes. Every small bump we hit the rear door would pop opening scaring the daylights out my wife and daughter, By the way, the door on this unit was crushed in & repaired with tape, Also the front hood would pop open and off the vehicle because the holding brackets were thorn apart, The vehicle steering pulled to the left and had a really load squeaking noise on every bump. After 30 minutes out in the dunes, my wife, daughter were fearful of this vehicle because of everything a mentioned . I went back to the beach trailer, requested another vehicle, they did not have another 4 seater or even a 2 seater, The guys working there thought it was funny that my daughter was crying and my wife fearful of this vehicle. Since there was not a replacement my wife and daughter left the beach and went back to our car. At this point I am left with no choice but to keep using this vehicle or loose my money as they made it clear no refunds. We went out and returned from dunes along the beach, within 50 yards the vehicle starts to loose air at the rear tire. I returned it to the location and they right out the gate said I am paying for a new tire. I told them it just went flat within 50 yards from the trailer. All the employees at that point have the drill down pack, Ignore the customer, walk away and to bad you are paying for a new tire... In other words, they will give a a beat up atv or razor and if the crap falls apart you are paying for new parts . Does not matter if its the handle bars, steering wheel, tires, etc. you will be fixing there vehicle on your dime. 100% complete joke. There vehicles are so trashed and not properly maintained. that something is bound to go wrong and then there crappy customer service kicks in .. They will charge your credit card for the new parts and labor. I told the beach manager [redacted] I am not going to pay for a new tire on this vehicle which had nothing but problems. He would not resolve or take care of the problem. I called the office and spoke with [redacted], Told her how horrible my families experience was . She did not care, Thought it was no big deal, That is a sign that she and this place go through this all the time with customers. She also did not resolve the charge they put on my credit card for the tire($240.00).. I asked to speak with the owners [redacted], day after day excuses how they are out of town ( ya sure) . Again the customer service here is 100% horrible, they just dont care about your experience and they will take your money. They will also take your money from the deposit you leave before renting vehicle. Charge you for anything that goes wrong out of your control on there poorly maintained atv's and razors. I highly recommend you do not rent from Steves/ Grove beach motorsports, There are other rental places near by like B.J's, Arnies or Angello's. There service can not be any worse that Steves/ Grover beach motorsports. Also I have been reading lots of other unhappy reviewers that have been here. They have tons of bad reviews, That only speaks volume about my complaint. Word of advice, To past unhappy customers & all future unhappy customers. You can report them to a local agency that monitors them & there vehicles. , Call Off Hwy Motor vehicles parks & rec. at [redacted] .. Ask for [redacted]. She will file a complaint report, They will send out an officer to investigate.
