Review: In October of 2009 I became homeless due to The John Stewart Company and am still homeless , it's been five years. no one informed me prior to moving me into the unit that was a flood zone. Their was no drainage. I was offered another unit by one of the apartment managers. However, within days I was told that I could not move in. I had no where to go. I was told that I would be put on a waiting list. For 5 years I continued to call. Finally I learned about Township 9, Cannery Place Apartments. I was put on that list because 1 bedrooms were being built and I was told by Mrs. [redacted] that I qualified for a one bedroom. I submitted a letter explaining what happened to me along with a money order for $25.00. I believed the fee was to be used to check my background as I was already qualified before the flood. I received a rejection letter stating that I did not qualify due to my credit. Why would a Company that caused me hardship for 5 years expect for my credit to remain the same or better. I am still disabled and lost everything because I no longer had a low income place to live. So why judge me after The John Stewart Company caused me to become homeless by not offering me another unit. My background is still good. I have no evictions. I believe after being told that I would be eligible for 5 years and because of the hardship that was caused beyond my control that I should be granted a unit as promised. The John Stewart Company is supposed to help low income individuals and families and people with disabilities to have adequate housing. Not to make low income individuals with disabilities to become homeless and ruin their credit and then use that against them. losing everything and being homeless is enough. I have been patient and have suffered for 5 years due to no fault of my own.Desired Settlement: I would like a one bedroom apartment at township 9, Cannery place apartments where I applied. I have waited a very long time and have suffered dramatically. I don't want to be judged by my current credit which was ruined because of events that occurred beyond my control. I need for the John Stewart Company to stand behind it's name and show compassion and empathy. It is very hard for me as we begin another winter. I paid my rent on time, was never a problem. Thank you.

Mrs. [redacted] and [redacted] did not address any of the personal damages that the John Stewart Company caused while living at Phoenix Park. They also did not explain why I was denied housing after being shown a two bedroom unit and the promise that I would get the unit. This denial along with my unit flooding is what ultimately caused me to become homeless.

As a result, I lost two of my vehicles. One 2008 Mini Cooper and One 2008 Vespa Scooter among moving expenses and the loss of my personal items that I was forced to sell to survive.

Also, per the John Stewart Company's selection criteria to become a tenant at Cannery Place, my credit evaluation is clear according to my math and the [redacted] credit reporting agency. Second round is more than 3 years outside of the John Stewart's criteria. I have made this clear to [redacted] via voice mail on 9/2/2014 and regarding proof, they have both been in possession of my credit report (proof) as of July 22, 2014 per their reporting agency National Tenant Network.

Since I received a rejection letter from The John Stewart Company I have tried more than four attempts to reach either [redacted] and [redacted], I observed that they will not return my phone calls.

For example, I called [redacted] J. on 9/2/2014 and shared with him that I am past the three year period with the creditor that he states "I need to show proof or have to show that I am paying towards the total balance and the decrease amount is less than $500.00". This creditor will drop off in 1 year and 2 months. According to [redacted] I do not have to pay towards this because it has been 5 years and 10 months.

I believe that The John Stewart Company has ignored taking any responsibility to any wrong doing for example, moving me into a unsafe and unsanitary unit at Phoenix Park. Mrs. [redacted] talked over the issue during the meeting with [redacted] my mother and I.

The silent treatment continues to be a tactic because I have yet to get my complaint answered nor have [redacted] called me to move forward to the next step in the application process per his letter dated August 29, 2014. I feel that I have lost thousands of dollars and am still homeless which could have been avoided if The John Stewart Company would have kept their word with providing me with the adequate housing that was available in 2009.

I have been on the Cannery Place Apartment list since the very beginning of the John Stewart Company Accepting Application list. I believe It is very discriminatory in many ways to judge me, especially after causing me the problems when their was no problem until they moved me in a unit with no drainage. I still have the pictures and documents to prove all of the above.

Their is no reason not to provide me with adequate housing at Cannery Place and I am still waiting after 5 years plus to have a decent, clean safe home to call my own without prejudice.
