Don't do business with this outfit. They filed separate taxes for my ex husband against my will, made an $1,100 dollar mistake on my taxes, charged me almost $400 to file an extension and when I objected, sent me to collections INSTANTLY, after threatening to sue me if I said anything. I have the emails. These people can and will try to destroy you if you object to their sloppy business practices. Read the reviews. We aren't all wrong, we just didn't want to do business with them. BTW, the charges were fraud, I never spent hours with them pouring over a 1040 short form. I don't even know how much they allegedly charge per hour! I paid $190 for my 2017 SHORT FORM! The one they made the $1,100 dollar mistake on. The IRS says it was their mistake. Then they claimed I owed them $374 for filing an extension for 2018, they didn't even file those taxes, I found somebody else to file the 2018 1040 short form. Just look at the hostile, nasty responses on the other complaints. See how they threaten legal action if you say anything? Stay clear if you don't want them coming after you and trying to ruin your life.

[redacted] was NOT charged for her free meet and greet After the FREE meet and greet, she engaged our firm, in writing, to provide tax consultation and preparation services (We have a copy of the written agreement right here on my desk as does our lawyer.) Tax consultation services were provided and we expect to be paid for them and were paid for them The services were good, relevant and she expressed gratitude for the service But then she left without paying and sent her husband in to threaten and harass our front staff Again, these people are liars and crooks We have it in writing what our agreement is, she can deny it all she wants, but her denials just confirm that she is a liar If you are a fellow business owner reading this, do NOT allow these folks into your place of business They WILL take advantage of you!!!Our attorney is watching this closely[redacted] & [redacted] Stewart-LonghurstOwners

When I first arrived at their office the secretary gave me a paper she asked me to sign and one to fill out (about *** ***)The business never gave me a physical copy of either of these papers. At the end of my meet & greet after I told *** that I needed to speak to my husband before making any decisions, she said they would "not be able to start on the taxes until they got $down"Then she got up and walked out of the room with the folder that had our papers in itShe never said another word to me, not even to tell me which way to leave, but walked out into the right hand side door and I walked out behind and into the lobby areaShe then told the secretary that "she will bring in the money later after she talks to her husband"Then I left. The next day when I had asked my husband to pickup our papers (since I could not as I had meetings all day), he went to pick them up and the secretary told him we owed $for the minute consultationMy husband also had called me while in the office and I heard the secretary say this, then he leftAfter my husband sent an email requesting the business call me (and my leaving a message asking them to call me) we received an email from the business stating we owed the money and then another email that they were "forwarding this to their attorney, and his firm would be in touch with us"So my husband returned with the money and was able to get back our papers which they were holding. It's clear there will be no agreement on the facts on this matter, and we will never know what it really was we were charged for.A little customer service in the beginning, like picking up a phone, goes a long way.

Revdex.com,
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
I have never met nor spoken to [redacted] Stewart, and only met/spoke to his wife [redacted] during the "free" meet and greet consultation. My husband has never met nor spoke to either [redacted] or his wife [redacted].
My previous statements are true and accurate as stated. The only thing we have asked for is the refund of our $89 for the "free" meet and greet consultation.

[redacted] was NOT charged for her free meet and greet.  After the FREE meet and greet, she engaged our firm, in writing, to provide tax consultation and preparation services.  (We have a copy of the written agreement right here on my desk as does our lawyer.)  Tax consultation services were provided and we expect to be paid for them and were paid for them.  The services were good, relevant and she expressed gratitude for the service.  But then she left without paying and sent her husband in to threaten and harass our front staff.  Again, these people are liars and crooks.  We have it in writing what our agreement is, she can deny it all she wants, but her denials just confirm that she is a liar.  If you are a fellow business owner reading this, do NOT allow these folks into your place of business.  They WILL take advantage of you!!!Our attorney is watching this closely.........[redacted] & [redacted] Stewart-LonghurstOwners

[redacted] hired us in writing to give her tax advice and then prepare her taxes.  She was given a quote and she agreed to pay before she left our office.  We gave her 45 minutes in professional tax advice which she was grateful for.  She then refused to pay our office administrator, saying...

she needed to talk to her husband first,  and walked out.  We consider this akin to shoplifting.  When I demanded payment, as agreed, from her husband, he became threatening and said he wasn't going to pay and told us to credit his account or he would report us to Revdex.com and the [redacted] show.  As required by our E&O insurance carrier when a client becomes threatening, I turned the issue over to our attorney.  Upon finding out about that, he came into the office within minutes and paid his bill. These people are dishonest crooks.  If you are a business owner and reading this, DO NOT engage them.  They will try to take you to the cleaners and cause you a lot of drama.Their money obviously is not going to be refunded as they hired us IN WRITING and we provided the services in a professional manner.Any future dealings with them will be via our attorney.

Review: My complaint is lack of communication and loss of personal information. My wife and I met with [redacted] to have him do our taxes. Over a month later we received a letter stating his ethics would not allow him to do our taxes. That took awhile. Where did that come from? Well after numerous phone calls, letter, and email he never responded. Finally he did after I went to his office and stated "enough" to [redacted] his office manager. Now he threatens me with actions for an unpaid bill and still has my personal information on a thumb drive.Desired Settlement: Opened to what is fair and just.

Response:

After reviewing Mr. [redacted]'s proposed tax project, we elected not to do the project due to ethical concerns. We graciously apologized for the possible inconvenience the declining his project caused him and sent him a bill ONLY for the small amount of time we spent with him in an initial meeting and his extension, both of which he had agreed to pay. When Mr. [redacted] made his claim that we had lost his flash drive, we immediately replaced it. The new one is already in his possession. We are sure Mr. [redacted] can find another CPA firm to work on his project and wish him well. We feel we have treated him graciously and have purchased him a brand new flash drive.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Mr [redacted]’s gracious apology came on 22 May 2013

over a month after our first meeting and after numerous calls, an email and

letter to address his reason for ethically not being able to do our taxes. Not

one phone call. It was during one of these calls I learned they still hadn’t

even got my thumb drive. I can only guess that perhaps an honest mistake took

place and the thumb drive was misplaced.

All we asked is for our taxes to be done. Why it

took him so long to address when I was told they were working on my taxes is

beyond me.

My desired out come stated I was open to what is

fair and just. The response has proposed nothing.

The fact that my thumb drive still has not been

returned leaves my wife and I vulnerable to identity theft.

At this point our word against Mr [redacted]'s makes

no difference. He can no more prove it than we can. However, the one at risk is

my wife and I. What protection do we have and assurance that our identity won't

be compromised? As of today his business practices give us much concern.

Honestly, if identity theft was not an issue, we

were given a courtesy call or we would have been treated professionally with

perhaps just one returned phone call this would not be where it is at today.

This being said it has caused undue hardship

where it did not need to. Again it took Mr [redacted] until 22 May 2013 (over a

month) to responds with his ethics excuse/issue and no phone calls. He blew us

off. Lost our thumb drive I gave to [redacted] and wants to be paid. This is neither

fair or just.

At this point I will consider paying him for what

he claims we owe without interest once he provides our thumb drive and a letter

that closes this matter and or provides something that gives peace

of mind and some kind of protection to our identity.

Regards,

Business

Response:

We were never in possession of Mr. [redacted]'s thumb drive. Regardless, we provided him a brand new one.

Review: This is a customer service, provided service and request for refund of service issue. Mr. [redacted] made a $200.00 or more error in our 2012 tax return. He did not provide a timely response to an inquiry, but instead presumed an action from a statement I made and acted (filing and extension) without contacting me first to follow-up on questions related to the error and other issues. I posed my inquiry and request for call back in a voicemail, email, 2 additional phone contacts with messages left and one in person contact to his office.Mr. [redacted] chose to reply only by email and his resolve was to fix the error and send me his worksheets related to the other issues.Due to the error, lack of customer service and response to my questions pertaining to my 2012 tax return, as well as his presumed response - I found a general lack of confidence in his expertise, so chose to purchase a software program and complete my 2012 taxes independently - and file them timely by 4/15/2013. I requested by reply email he cease editing our tax return and return my original documents and refund the money paid. Unfortunately, I paid for his services prior to reviewing my return for accuracy where I found the errors and questions. Mr. [redacted] refuses to refund the $204.00 citing he cannot refund his time or expertise even though his child care expense error alone was a $200.00 error. Had I not reviewed the documents, our refund would have been $200.00 less by his calculations. This may have simply been resolved, had Mr. [redacted] chosen to speak with me to review the error and the few items I had questions on, of which I would expect when paying for this type of professional service. However, his lack of customer service along with the error, made this experience less than professional and acceptable.Thank you for the opportunity to express my experience. I have an email string I could share for further information.I would not recommend this service provider to others.Desired Settlement: I would simply like our $204.00 refunded. I offered and 80% refund, 20% for his office to keep to recognize there had been time/resources spent, but ultimately the service was not satisfactory. I would also like to express our time is important too.

Response:

We admit we made an error on Ms. [redacted]'s tax return. She brought this to our attention on April 12th, one of the busiest tax days of the year. No one on our staff was able to meet with her that day in person nor on April 15th, tax day itself, when she showed up in person without an appointment. We chose to instead respond via email. To resolve the error, we issued an apology, we fixed the problem at no additional cost to her, filed an extension for her for free, and sent the corrected tax return along with answers to questions she had about it back to her within a few days.
