Stingray Auto Repair Reviews (%countItem)

I bought a Groupon online for oil change. The groupon states "Additional fee for synthetic oil", no big deal. Then I came in to the shop and told the additional fee was almost $80 dollars, which by itself is already more than full price of many other shops. Since I was already there, I proceeded with the oil change anyways. After waiting for 50 minutes, they returned my car and it was not starting anymore. They wanted charge me about $240 to replace to the mass air flow sensor. I told them it was ridiculous that I have to pay for the damage. Finally they lowered price to about $80, which they said it was free labor and half of the parts cost. I quickly pointed out the part is only $40-$50 and showed them on my phone. The front desk guy responded that I can "go fix the car elsewhere" with my car that was no longer drivable. Then I talked to their boss, he insisted that they did not break my car and it was going to break anyways. Given that mass air flow sensor can become faulty with just a bit contamination. It's not like anyone was overlooking the mechanics the whole time during air filter inspection. Bottom line is I drove in with a perfectly good 5 year old car with only 70k miles, ended up with a car not starting after an oil change and air filter inspection. I had to give in eventually and pay them the $80 because I already wasted 3 hours and can't go anywhere else to fix it with my car being broken.

We offer Standard oil changes on Groupon for Conventional oil changes not Synthetic the customer was informed when scheduling the cost of the additional charge. Yes I realize my prices are higher than some other shops the reason for that is very simple we are located in South Lake Union and as a small business in the highest price per square foot real estate market in the Northwest it costs us more to do business here. As far as his statement that his vehicle would not idle after the oil change is partly correct but had nothing to do with the oil changed we performed. During the oil change we do perform a courtesy inspection looking at items such as the brakes, fluids, belts and filters. The only Recommendations made was for an air filter that was extremely dirty. He declined the filter and that's ok because we were simply letting him know he needed it. We do not have an aggressive sales environment and none of my employees are on commission. After the oil change was performed the vehicle was started and driven to the parking lot with no issues present. The customer went to his vehicle and returned to the office stating his vehicle would not start. My technician accompanied him out to his vehicle to see what was happening. After 20-30 minutes of diagnostic work (not charged to the customer) by using the computer to diagnose the issue. It was then discovered that the Mass Air flow sensor was not sending the proper signal to the ECM thus causing the car to not run very well. While the customer watched we removed the Sensor and verified it was free of debris or contaminants from the dirty air filter. The sensor had failed internally due to natural failure. There was zero indication of damage to the sensor by my technician. Had there been any question or possibility it had been damaged while in my possession we would have replaced the sensor at no charge. The customer was given an estimate for the repair and got upset I sympathized with him and let him know I understood his point of view and how he felt but we had not caused the damage to his vehicle. He then wanted to compare prices to parts on Amazon (I can't compete with Amazon prices) I agreed to split the cost of the part with him after he initially declined I politely told him he could take it elsewhere to be fixed. He agreed to pay for half of the cost (my cost not retail) and no labor charges. This was in no part our fault but if he had simply called me today and told me how he felt I would have most likely refunded his money but instead he left negative reviews on ***, ***, Groupon and I actually had to ban him from my Company *** page do to his posts and let us not forget the Revdex.com as well. So no I won't be doing anything for this person unless all negative reviews come down
