Stohlman Volkswagen & Subaru Reviews (3)

Review: My first complaint is that during my inital paperwork the finance guy did not fully explain what was included in my package. I was told certain things were "included" but not that they were extended warrenties that added thousands of dollars to my loan amount. I was unable to decline any warrenties because I was not informed they were being added to start with. After I got back home and had my boyfriend look over the paperwork he noticed the thousands of dollars worth of extended warrenties that were included in my price, making my monthly payments very high. I called back and asked that they be removed and my payments re-done. At first I was told I could not change them, then I was told my payments could not be changed, only the lenght of time my loan was for. After many more phone calls I was able to have everything changed and the payments lowered.

My second complaint is how they handeled getting me approved for a loan. I was never told that I did not qualify for the Subaru loan that I had applied for. I was told I was approved and that was the end of that. Come to find out they applied for 4 different loans. My credit has gone down due to the amount of times they checked my credit and I have been declined for other types of credit due to the same problem since.

My third complaint is that my temp tags expire in 3 days and I have had to call the dealership daily for updates and finally to demand a new set of temp tags be overnighted to my address in order to avoid my current ones from expiring.Desired Settlement: I would like to see the finace office better train their employees to FULLY disclose what is included in their packages using the words "extendee warrenty" as well as list all of the other options with a price.

I think all customer's should be informed each time the dealership applies for a loan, and each time the customer is declined. I should have had an option to decline so many requests. My credit has suffered do to this lack of consideration.

In regards to the tags, I feel I was not given valid reasons for why my tags have not arrived yet. I was told that all of the other Maryland tags had arrived. Mine should not have been any different.

Overall I think this dealship needs to re-train their financing staff on how to go over paperwork that pertains to peoples money. I was never offered any sort of compensation for my travel time, nor am I seeking any such offer. I will not be returning to this dealership

Review: I filed the complaint below to Subaru (http://http://www.subaru.com/)

10/30/2013 My Subaru Impreza 2013 had problem with Engine check light on along with Vehicle Dynamics control.

Today 10/31/2013 I brought it in to Stohlman Subaru dealer in [redacted], VA. They told me the engine oil and the oil filter might be the cause, code [redacted] and [redacted]. I told them the oil was changed 3 months ago. But they insisted that the oil must be changed by them NOW before any other work can be done next. I know the oil was correct synthetic rating oil as specified in the owner manual, because I changed the oil myself along with new oil filter. I searched on Internet and found nothing indicating [redacted] could be caused by an oil change.

[redacted] Camshaft Position Sensor "B" Circuit (Bank 1)

[redacted] Camshaft Position Sensor "B" Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1)

These codes are under Ignition System or Misfire.

Now, I picked up my Subaru and paid $72.00. the Check engine light is gone. But I still strongly don't believe oil change can caused that particular check engine error. To me if they fixed it and scammed with the oil change, so in the future I come back to them for oil change not anywhere else.

Over all, I'm disappointed. The car just has 9,039 miles on it. And the dealership doesn't very convincing me of the root cause of the problem.

[redacted] Below is the answer from Subaru, it doesn't explain the connection between the error code of Engine check light and the oil change which Stohlman Subaru dealership implied a the cause [redacted]

Dear [redacted]:

Thank you for your patience, while we reviewed your concern with Stohlman Subaru.

I was able to speak with [redacted], Service Manager today. [redacted] provided me with the diagnostic information. He indicated the check engine light illuminated due to a lubrication concern within the engine. [redacted] advised that the first step in the diagnosis of these check engine light codes is an oil change.

[redacted] advised that they performed the oil change for you. They found an aftermarket filter in the vehicle. They installed a Subaru filter and Subaru recommended oil. [redacted] recommended that you stop back if you experience any further issues.

Again, **. [redacted], we want to thank you for your contact. If you have future comments or questions, please contact us again.

Sincerely,

Customer Dealer Services

Subaru of America, Inc.Desired Settlement: Subaru doesn't explain their dealership action of how a oil change can caused Check Engine.

1. If this is an issue with Subaru Impreza 2013, consumers need to know. I searched on Internet and found nothing about the "Camshaft Position Sensor "B" Circuit " check engine could be caused by oil change.

2. The dealership doesn't want their customers have the Subaru cars change oil by anyone else but themselves. They fixed the Check Engine light but didn't tell exactly what's wrong. Since it a new car, they look for some work that didn't perform by them and blame it as the cause.

Review: I bought a used car from Stohlman Automotive on June 8. 2013. When I purchased the vehicle I was told that I would be receiving the title and registration sometime in the on coming week. After that week passed with no phone call or update from the dealership I then phoned them on June 17, 2013. I was told by a man named [redacted] in the financial department that when I purchased the car I was told the wrong information and it actually takes 10 days for the title to arrive to their offices and so it would get there June 24 and I should expect it at my house by June 26. After still not receiving it, I called the dealership on June 27, but was sent to voicemails of everyone in the financial department and so I left my information so they could call me back. I didn't receive any phone calls. On June 29, I went up to the dealership which is actually 45 miles from my residence. After talking to a gentleman there that they had to buy the title from [redacted] and he showed us the copy of the title and they will send it on Monday and I would receive it June 3. Again I did not get the title, my father then called them on June 5 he was told by [redacted] that the title has not actually been sent to them so they are not able to send it to me. They will send me 15 day temporary tags and will try to work out the title issue. My problem with Stohlman that they were not up front about the title and kept giving me wrong information. I will be going back to college at the end of July so I need my car to be legal and registered before I leave Maryland.Desired Settlement: I don't want a refund or anything, I just want to be able to get my car registered before I move out of the state.
